Kattupalli Port Case Study – Auto Segment
Imports of Auto cluster before Kattupalli:
• Long lead time as all boxes of Non ACP customers has to
be moved to Container Freight Station ( Extended arm of
port for Customs clearance) resulting in multiple handling
and additional cost of USD 100 / box
• Transit time from Chennai port to Factory was approx. 3
days.
Imports of Auto Cluster at Kattupalli:
• Introduced the concept of Direct Delivery to auto
customers, thereby eliminating any additional handling
/ costs.
• Customers has the option to take delivery on the
same day on customs clearances.
Exports of Auto cluster before Kattupalli:
• Customs seal verification to be done at CFS
• Cut off for boxes 6hrs prior vessel berthing.
• Transit time from Factory to port was approx. 36 hrs.

• Facilitated seal verification facility inside port complex
• Cut off for boxes 6 hrs prior vessel sailing.
