Activities undertaken by the department of Science and Humanities From Jan 2017to Dec2017 1. College Annual Get Together was organized on 1April2017. 2. One day Orientation Programme was organized and conducted for newly joined I B.Tech students on 29June 2017. Around two hundred and fifty students with their parents attended the programme. The purpose of the programme was to inform students and parents know of their course work and duties. Dr. M.C. Das, a well known speaker and trainer in personality development, Emeritus Professor, SRK Institute of Technology, graced the event and addressed the gathering. Principal along with all the heads of the department attended the programme. 3. The department of English in collaboration with Acharya Educational Services, a certified Cambridge Language Assessment Centre, Bangalore, organized and conducted 50 hour course for training bothfaculty and students in Business English Communication from 9Oct-8Nov2017. The course content was specifically and differently designed to suit the needs of faculty and students. The training was conducted on lines of preparing the students to take certificate exam in BEC (Business Communication Certificate) held by Cambridge Language Assessment Centres.The following were the trainers for the course: PrasanthShenoy, M.A (Litt), CELTA Level5 from University of Cambridge (UCLES), currently Lead Trainer at Acharya Educational services. 5. Aone day awareness programmewas conducted for I B.Tech girls on

Breast Cancer and Menstrual Hygieneon 17Oct2017. It was conducted by

SPARSH, an organization by students of Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Institute

of Medical Sciences. K.Anusha, T.Tejaswini, G.HemaLatha and B.Anjana, IV

MBBS students addressed the gathering.

6. Ms.K.Anuradha, Asst. Professor,Siddhartha Law College, was invited as a

guest speaker to spread awareness on Women Rights and Empowerment

on 3November 2017. The guest lecture was a part of the drive initiated by

National Commission for Women.

7. The guest lecture was followed by a quiz competition which was conducted

on lines suggested by National Commission for Women.The winners of the

8. A workshop in drama theatre was conducted on 20Nov22017. Ms. Kalyani,

a theatre artist, was the resource person for the workshop. The college was

chosen as one of the workshop venue to promote theatre art as a part of

Amaravati Theatre Festival held in Vijayawada from November 24 to 26

organised by state government of Andhra Pradesh.

9. Thedepartment of Physics organized a guest lecture on 4 Dec2017. Prof.

Michal Piasecki, scientist from Poland was invited as a guest lecturer to

address the students on Novel materials for Opto Electronic

Applications.

10. The department of Sciences and Humanities took the initiative to

organize and conduct many Cultural Events as a part of the EXPLORERS”

MEET-2K2017. The event was held on 3rd and 4th Jan2018.

A Two Technical Fest Day

SRK Institute of Technology has made a splendid commencement in the New

Year, marking a festive mood in the young enthusiastic technocrats with its

conduction of SRK Explorers’ Meet 2018 – A Techfest, conducted on 3rd and 4th

of January, 2018. It has fascinated many students from across AP, to

participate in multiple events, designed in an innovative way to showcase their

technical and scientific fervour and also to bring out the concealed talents.

The inaugural session was organized on 3rd Jan, 2018 at 9:30 am in the

seminar hall. Sri. K. Chandra Sekhar, Chief Executive Officer of Novatel,

Vijayawada, Sri P. Hemanth, MD, SuVedh Educators, Bangalore, Sri. Siva

Makutam, President, Andhra Pradesh Information Technology (APITA), Sri. B.

Ramaiah, Chief Engineer, TS TRANSCO, Warangal, Sri. R. Samuel Johnson,

Additional Divisional Engineer, AP GENCO, Vijayawada, and Dr. M.C. Das,

Dean, School of Management, SRK Foundation spoke on the occasion.

Students were given a broad understanding by the speakers, on the importance

of participating in the Tech fest and the role it plays in moulding their lives.

Sri. B.S. Krishna, Secretary, SRK Foundation, released a souvenir on this

occasion.

The Department of Sciences and Humanities, took the pivotal lead in the

conduction of various cultural contests. The events were designed keeping in

mind, the times of the present era and the student psyche. Many students have

registered and participated in the contests with much eagerness and won

accolades for their talents. Meticulous planning was done, days ahead for this

event regarding the formulation of rules and regulations for each contest and

orientation is also provided for the internal monitors (Event Coordinators)

involved in it. External judges were invited from various fields of repute; all to

ensure, a fair and a smooth conduction of the contests. The event was a huge

success. The winners of the various contests were given good personality

development books written by eminent authors from across the world. Mr. P.

Ekambaram Naidu, Principal gave away the prizes to winners. In all it was a

lovely team effort on part of faculty and students.

11. All the girl students of SRK Institute of Technology have participated in the

Champions Book of World Records in the symbol formation on behalf of SRK

Foundation at Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women. The

occasion was graced by the Dr.Anuradha Gadde, Chairperson, Zilla

Parishad, krishna Dt. Dr.Pattabi Ram Turlapati, Founder and chairperson

and Dr. Santhi Devi, Founder attended the event as guests of honour.

DURING SYMBOL FORMATION

12. On 8th March 2018, Internation day for Women was observed in the

college. Department of S&H conducted the following competitions to mark

the occasion.

i. Rangoli: Each team will have two members. The theme is Women

Empowerment and any women related issues.
