6. FDP by Faculty on “Literature review”
East Point College of Higher Education, Bangalore organized a One Day FDP on “Literature review’’ for
Research Scholars and Faculty on 07/05/2016. There were 33 participants who attended the program. The
technical sessions were handled by Dr.S.JohnManohar and Dr.S.Manoharan. The participants have given
a positive feedback about the program stating it was helpful for their research.

7. Faculty invited as a Quiz Master
Adarsh Institute of Management and Information Technology had organised
a one day National level B-School Meet “ADARSH REGALIA-2016” on 19th May 2016.
There was a myriad blend of Educational events like - Best Manager, Marketing, Human Resources,
Finance, IT (Gaming, Coding and Debugging) Business Quiz and Entrepreneurship. Mr. Sridhar H R was
invited as a Quiz Master to host the final round of the Business Quiz which was very well received &
appreciated.

8. MDP at PEENYA Industries Association
The Department conducted it’s maiden MDP on 20th may 2016 at Peenya Industries Association. There
were 15 industrialists in the program. The resource persons for the program were Dr. S Nagendra, Dr
Satyanandini, Dr Shubha B.N and Ms. Sushma R. The MDP focused on three main areas: Productivity,
Finance and Labour issues. The program was well received and the feedback indicated need for cluster
based programs in future.

9. Workshop on Excel
Hands on training on “Analytics with MS Excel” was conducted by the Department of Management
Studies and Research Centre, BMS College of Engineering, Bengaluru on 21st May 2016. The objective
of the programme was to equip participants with the basic knowledge of Statistics, Research, application
of analytics in business and analytical tools of Excel.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. K. Mallikharjuna Babu, Principal, BMSCE. During his inaugural
address, he appreciated the initiative and explained the need to educate management students about
analytics. Dr. John Manohar, Professor, BMSCE, in his welcome address, congratulated the participants
for being proactive to educate themselves about analytics.
The Trainers were: Prof. Shaheen Shariff, BMSCE, Prof. Prathima Bhat, BMSCE and Mr. Manish Joshi,
Consultant. The programme had participation from different Management Colleges and from Corporates
like TCS and a few start-ups. Participants were very excited to learn valuable tips in excel by working on
live datasets and felt confident about leveraging analytics.

with SIDBI, Bangalore & MSME DI, Bangalore had organised a Management development program on " Empowering New Business through Government Initiatives " with a single aim to guide all the Existing and
potential entrepreneurs of Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs), University graduates, Academicians
who nurture young minds in the field of MSME management through Government Initiatives. The Programme was
completely sponsored by SIDBI & MSME DI Bangalore.
Resource persons included renowned Government officials from SIDBI AND MSMEDI namely, Sri.A.C.Sahu,
General Manager, SIDBI, Sri.Rangaprasad, Director, MSMEDI, Sri.Anandamurthy, Sri.Anbu Kumaran,
Sri.Rajendran, Sri.Baldev Singh, and Sri.Devaraj, Sri.Hemanth Kumar, DIC, Bangalore Urban.
Resource persons from Academics included - Mr.Pavan Soni, Research Fellow, IIMB, Dr.A.Satya Nandini,
Dr.Minu Zachariah and Ms.Leena Guruprasad, Dept of Management Studies & Research Centre from BMS
College of Engineering, Bangalore.
Participation Details : The MDP witnessed 60 participants, of which 18 were entrepreneurs from various Micro,
Small & Medium Enterprises such as Jyothi Alloys, Vijaya emtech Pvt Ltd, Sip n Sip Mineral water, RM Business
Services, Vishesha Crafts, Thrishul Leather, Kunamneni Technologies and Transheight Consultant. And 18 were
faculty and the remaining 24 were university graduates from other institutions such as Global Academy, Cambridge
Institute of Technology, Acharya group of Institutions, RNSIT.

4. Guest Lecture delivered

Davengare for a workshop on “Cash and Credit Management Techniques" held on Friday 20th August
2016. There were about 15 MBA students who attended the program and have provided a positive

5. Research Colloquium
The Second Research Colloquium of the financial year 2016-17 was organised on Saturday, 27th August
2016 by the Department of Management Studies and Research Centre at MBA Room No. 2, 2nd Floor,
P.G. Block from 10.30 A.M. to 1 PM. Dr. V. Sridevi, Professor, IFIM, Bangalore chaired the program. 4
Research Scholars presented their Research work and briefed about the progress made so far. This was
followed by Research Paper Review, by Dr. A. Satya Nandini. This was done for the first time in the
colloquium to make the program more meaningful for all the participants. She selected a case study by
Prof. Stefan Thomker on Dabbawala’s System, about a Community at work, irrespective of the problems.
It was published in HBR in Nov.2012 issue. He identified four pillars of Success in this system-
Organization, Management, Process and Culture. Moreover Dabbawala’s System is a good example for
self-enforcing system. It teaches that a Manager should not only lead and supervise his subordinates, but
should be an architect of a system. This was indeed a learning experience for Management faculty to
handle a case from various perspectives.

2. Alumni Meet - KUTUMBA Organized in the Department
Department of management studies and Research center, B.M.S College of Engineering, had organized an
Alumni Meet “KUTUMBA” on 22nd October 2016.
The meet witnessed a total gathering of around 50 Alumni.
The event started off with a welcome by HOD-MBA , Dr.A.Satya Nandini followed by Interactive session
lead by Prof.H.R.Sridhar.
As an Initiative, the Department released the “MBA Alumni Talents” brochure which featured the intended
Alumni with their short profile. The same Brochure shall be featured on the department webpage.

Dr.A.Satya Nandini, the member of Board of Studies of MBA, was invited to attend a BOS
meeting at Visvesvaraya Technological University, Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru on 9th November 2016.
7. Parent Teacher Meeting
The Parent Teacher Meeting was conducted on 26.11.2016 between 10.30 AM and 12.30 PM in
the Department. The parents were provided refreshments and later held one on one meeting with
the respective proctors. Later, few parents met the HOD as required.
Around 43 parents were met by various proctors and 10 parents called the proctors over phone.
They were briefed on the requirements of the Autonomous MBA Program as well as the present
status of attendance of their wards. The following are some pictures of the meeting.
