The Active Contributor Programme (ACP) has been a vital platform to nurture thinking and innovative individuals. To promote a sense of belonging and rootedness to the school, all Park View pupils are given the platform through the ACP to make suggestions to improve the school. Every term, a question pertaining to the improvement of the school will be posed to all pupils. Every pupil’s suggestion will be evaluated by the class teachers and the top three suggestions of each term will be awarded a $5 voucher in recognition of their contribution. The ACP not only provides a culture of innovation and excellence in the school, it also spurs every pupil to be a confident and actively contributing citizen. P6 Camp @ Batam

You like my kite?

Will the circle remain unbroken?

The Primary 6 pupils went to Batam for a CIP camp from 7th March to 9th March. We took a ferry for about forty-fi ve minutes before we reached our destination. We stayed at the Palm Spring Resort. We slept in tents which we pitched in a large fi eld beside the main buildings. The toilets were not far away from our tents so it was convenient for us. On the fi rst day, we were scheduled to do our CIP activities. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and I loved seeing the smiles on the Indonesian children’s faces. On the second day, all the groups did countless preparations for our campfi re. Before the campfi re started, we received our camp T-shirts. During the campfi re, each group belted out songs. We had a whale of a time. We went home on the third day. I felt good that I had done something meaningful during my time in Batam.

Celest Phang, 6F

I enjoyed the camp very much. At fi rst, I thought that the camp would be boring but I was wrong. We were able to pitch our tents well and they were very stable. The tents could have been improved as some rainwater dripped into them and our bags became wet. The campfi re was awesome and the music was good and loud. If only the fi rewood had not fallen. It was a pity my group did not manage to go trekking. We did manage to go to the local school where some of us played volleyball with the children there. I have learnt that we are more fortunate than the children we met in Batam. I hope that the school can organize more of such overseas camps.

Su Hongyi, 6F

Through the CIP activity, I have learnt that we must show care and concern for our community. We must also treasure what we have.

Christine Lee, 6D

During the CIP activity, we taught the children how to make balloon sculptures. They did not know how to twist the balloons at fi rst but we kept trying and they fi nally learnt how to do it. We worked as a team and did not give up even though we failed at fi rst.

Megan Low, 6F

We should contribute to our teams. During the rafting activity, we worked together so that our “boat” would fl oat. Even though my kite did not fl y, I had fun making it.

Bernadette Chin, 6B

I have learnt that as long as I persevere, I will be able to succeed with the help of my group members. I will not give up, no matter how many challenges I face.

Ong Shi Han, 6E

Hang on, we are nearly there!

Hands up!

Every one deserves the chance to live. The smallest thing we do can also make a difference.

What a lovely blue!

WORDSWORTHBring vs Take vs FetchWhen you are talking about the movement of something or someone towards you, use “bring”.

Example: “When you come to the party, please bring something for the gift exchange.”

When you are talking about the movement of something or someone away from you, use “take”.

Example: “When we go to the party, let’s take a small gift.”

When you are talking about going to get something or someone and bringing them back, use “fetch”.Example: “Please fetch your sister, Jane, from the party.”

Easy does it...

My SingaporeThe Bukit Timah Nature Reserve in Singapore contains more species of trees than the entire North American continent. The highest natural point in Singapore is Bukit Timah Hill, which is only 164 metres high. Singapore has a very fl at terrain.

Watch your steps!Hey, where are we going?

Fire! More Fire!

Sing your way home!
