With over 800 community partners in attendance the video promoted the renaissance in Wyandotte County, Kansas in the areas of careers, housing and quality of life. The video also provided us with a baseline of video to be used in other efforts to reinforce the change in the community. The annual meeting is the signature event for the KCK Chamber and kicks off the new year by introducing our new leadership and theme for the year. “There’s No Place Wyandotte” was used in our promotional material and carried on throughout 2009 in other areas including our membership directory. Needs Identification Wyandotte County is part of the Kansas City five county metropolitan community and has battled the perception for years of being the forgotten county in the area. There has been a negative perception of Kansas City, Kansas and Wyandotte County, both inside and outside, including high crime rate, low paying jobs, poor housing, and nothing to see or do. Over the past ten years Wyandotte County has experienced a renaissance with several successful economic development projects which have become the catalyst to improve the entire community. The video also helped reinforce the mission of the KCK Chamber to enhance and create opportunities in Wyandotte County which build a quality community to live, work and conduct business. This video was a fun and exciting way to toot our own horn to a captive audience of business and community leaders from across the metropolitan area.
