Note:

• Power supply voltage range - 12 volt DCnegative earth.

• System current consumption <2.5 mA in armedcondition.

• Once the Alarm/Immobiliser has been fitted, itwill become an integral part of the motorcycleand cannot be removed.

• Completely read all of the instructions beforecommencing the installation and set up of theaccessory kit in order to become thoroughlyfamiliar with the kit’s features and theinstallation process.

• A suitable heat gun is required to fit this kit.• Prior to installation, record the serial number

from the underside of the alarm unit on thealarm installation certificate.

1. Remove the seat, as described in the ServiceManual.

2. Disconnect the battery, negative (black) leadfirst.

3. Remove the battery, as described in the ServiceManual.

4. Remove the engine ECM fixings, as described inthe Service Manual and place the engine ECMaside.

5. Remove the left hand side panel.

WarningThe accessory kits covered in this instruction aredesigned for use on specific models of Triumphmotorcycle. The accessory kits and the modelsapplicable are listed at the start of the instruction.They should not be fitted to any other Triumphmodel or to any other manufacturer’s motorcycle.Fitting an accessory kit to a Triumph model notlisted, or to any other manufacturer’s motorcyclewill affect the performance, stability and handlingof the motorcycle. This may result in loss ofmotorcycle control and an accident.

WarningAlways have Triumph approved parts, accessoriesand conversions fitted by a trained technician ofan authorised Triumph dealer. The fitment ofparts, accessories and conversions by a technicianwho is not of an authorised Triumph dealer mayaffect the handling, stability or other aspects ofthe motorcycle’s operation which may result inloss of motorcycle control and an accident.

WarningA torque wrench of known accurate calibrationmust be used when fitting this accessory kit.Failure to tighten any of the fasteners to thecorrect torque specification may result in loss ofmotorcycle control and an accident.

WarningThroughout this operation, ensure that themotorcycle is stabilised and adequately supportedto prevent risk of injury from the motorcyclefalling.

WarningProlonged storage of the machine with the alarmarmed will result in battery drain. Excessivebattery drain will cause permanent damage to thebattery. The machine should be connected to anappropriate battery conditioner to maintain goodbattery condition.

Reed-Switch Magnet Fitment

6. Place the left hand side panel on a clean non-abrasive surface and locate the reed-switchmagnet mounting platform on the underside ofthe panel.

Note:

• Read the warning notices printed on thecleaning wipe packet in the fitting kit.

• The surface to which the reed-switch magnet isaffixed must be clean and dry to ensure thatthe adhesive has a sound base to adhere to.Use the cleaning wipe supplied for this purpose.

7. Peel off the backing strip from the adhesivepad on the reed-switch magnet.

Note:

• When fitting the reed-switch magnet to the lefthand side panel the fixing holes in the reed-switch magnet and side panel mountingplatform should not be used for alignment.Reed-switch fixings are not required for thisapplication.

8. Position the reed-switch magnet on to themounting platform on the underside of the lefthand side panel ensuring the rear of themagnet is aligned with the edge of themounting platform as shown. Apply firm andeven pressure to the magnet to ensure a goodbond is achieved.

Alarm/immobiliser Unit Fitment

9. Locate the twelve way alarm connector on themain wiring harness located behind the airduct in the area under the left hand side panel.

Note:

• The twelve way alarm connector is an unusedblack coloured terminal block. The shorting plugis the cover for this terminal block which isfitted with a double hoop of black cable.

• The shorting plug must be returned toDATATOOL along with the registrationdocumentation.

CautionWhen fitting self-adhesive parts, care must betaken to ensure positioning is correct andaccurate. Once the adhesive has been attached tothe mounting surface, there is no satisfactorymethod of removal or re-positioning if incorrectlyaligned. Initial bonding is instant, full bonding isachieved after 72 hours.

10. Remove the fir tree clip which retains the mainwiring harness and twelve way alarmconnector. Discard the fir-tree clip.

11. Route the twelve way alarm connector andmain wiring harness through the motorcycleframe to the under seat area of the batterytray.

12. Remove the air duct and fixing. Retain the airduct and fixing for reuse.

13. Fit a Well Nut provided into the hole in the sidepanel front mounting bracket, as shown.

14. Collect the 53 mm long and 36 mm longadhesive pads from the fitting kit. Fix theadhesive foam pads to the base of the alarm/immobiliser unit with the 36 mm long padpositioned at the wiring harness end of theunit as shown.

15. Fit a Well Nut into the alarm bracket. Attachthe alarm bracket loosely onto the battery traymoulding with the M5 x 20 mm screw from thekit. The M5 x 20 mm screw should be insertedfrom inside the battery tray moulding, throughthe hole where the fir-tree clip has beenremoved.

16. Route the alarm/immobiliser wiring harnessthrough the frame into the under seat area ofthe battery tray, as shown.

17. Fit the alarm/immobiliser onto the battery traymoulding in the orientation shown below. Fitthe alarm bracket over the alarm/immobiliserand fit the M5 x 16 mm screw provided to thebracket front fixing position.

18. Tighten both alarm bracket fixings to 1.5 Nm.

19. Refit the air duct and fixing. Tighten the fixingto 1.5 Nm.

20. Locate the reed-switch mounting, to the left ofthe air duct, as shown.

21. Peel off the backing strip from the adhesivepad on the reed-switch. Align the reed-switchto the fixing holes, in the orientation shown.Apply firm and even pressure to the reed-switch to ensure a good bond is achieved.Secure using the self-tapping screws provided.

22. Route the reed-switch wiring harness throughthe motorcycle frame into the under seat areaof the battery tray.

23. Slide the heat shrink sleeve on to the alarmwiring harness, far enough to still allow accessto the twelve way alarm connector.

24. Connect the alarm/immobiliser wiring to themain wiring harness twelve way alarmconnector.

25. Slide the heat shrink sleeve over the alarm/main harness connection. Do not apply anyheat to the heat shrink at this stage.

26. Connect the reed-switch wiring to the alarm/immobiliser wiring harness.

27. Refit the battery and secure with the batterystrap.

28. Reconnect the battery, positive (red) lead first.

29. Replace the left hand side panel and check allthe functions of the alarm, as detailed in theuser guide.

Note:

• When satisfied that the alarm/immobiliser isfunctioning correctly, the connection betweenthe alarm/immobiliser unit and the main wiringharness must be made secure and tamperproof with the heat shrink sleeve.

30. Disconnect the battery, negative (black) leadfirst.

WarningTo prevent the risk of damage to the battery andany subsequent damage to electrical components,ensure that the battery is removed from themotorcycle prior to the use of the heat gun.

Failure to observe the above warnings may lead toelectrical damage and a fire hazard which couldcause personal injury.

WarningThe air from a heat gun, and the heat gun itself,are very hot. Wear suitable protective gloves anddo not point the heat gun at any part of yourbody as serious burns may result.

32. Using a heat gun, shrink the heat shrink sleeveto insulate the twelve way connection.

33. Ensure all alarm/immobiliser wiring is securedtidily with the cable ties provided.

34. Trim off any excess cable tie material.

35. Fit the alarm/immobiliser wiring into thebattery tray moulding area behind the battery,as shown below.

36. Refit the ECM as described in the ServiceManual.

37. Refit the battery.

38. Reconnect the battery, positive (red) lead first

Note:

• The latest instrument calibration must bedownloaded to the instrument assembly usingthe Triumph Diagnostic Tool. The latest versionof the Triumph Diagnostic Tool software can befound on the ’Triumph On line’ dealer website.

39. Connect the Triumph diagnostic tool anddownload the latest instrument calibration tothe instrument assembly following theprocedure listed on the ’Triumph On Line’dealer website.

40. Refit the seat, as described in the ServiceManual.

41. Complete the certificate supplied with thealarm kit and return to the customer. Thecertificate of installation must be retained bythe customer as proof of alarm fitment.

Note:

• The alarm/immobiliser is protected by fusenumber 1 (10 Amp.) in the motorcycle fuse box.

CautionWhen fitting the heat shrink sleeve, take care notto burn any part of the wiring harness or seriousdamage will result to the cable. Excessive heat willalso cause the sleeve to become brittle, renderingit useless.

Post Installation Checks

• The alarm is supplied to the dealer set in wintermode. Turn ON the ignition to activate thealarm system. As the alarm activates it will emita series of beeps before triggering.

• Turn OFF the ignition and disarm the alarmwith one of the remote transmitters.

• Check both alarm transmitters supplied forcorrect operation by arming and disarming thealarm a few times.

• Check that the motorcycle electricalcomponents (lights, horn, etc.) functioncorrectly.

• The alarm must be tested for correct operationand functionality. Any necessary adjustmentscan be carried out via the alarm softwareswitches. A Personal Identification Number isrequired to make adjustments to the alarmsoftware. Refer to the operating instructionsprovided to set a PIN. Inform the customer ofany PIN set.

• Check the operation of the movement sensor.Adjust if necessary at software switch 4.

• Check the operation of the nudge sensor.Adjust if necessary at software switch 5.

• Check the operation of the proactive triggerswitch.

• Check the operation of the alarm LED.

The above checks and adjustments will reduce thepossibility of false alarm activation.

WarningNever ride an accessory equipped motorcycle atspeeds above 80 mph (130 km/h).

The presence of accessories will cause changes inthe stability and handling of the motorcycle.Failure to allow for changes in motorcycle stabilitymay result in loss of motorcycle control and anaccident.

Remember that the 80 mph (130 km/h) limit will bereduced by the fitting of non-approvedaccessories, incorrect loading, worn tyres, overallmotorcycle condition and poor road or weatherconditions.

WarningThe motorcycle must not be operated above thelegal road speed limit except in closed courseconditions.

WarningOnly operate this Triumph motorcycle at highspeed in closed-course, on-road competition or onclosed-course racetracks. High-speed operationshould only be attempted by riders who have beeninstructed in the techniques necessary forhigh-speed riding and are familiar with themotorcycle’s characteristics in all conditions.

High-speed operation in any other circumstancesis dangerous and may lead to loss of motorcyclecontrol and an accident
