Humidifiers
Types:• Fan-Powered• Bypass
Humidifiers
Replace media pad Clean mineral deposits from:
• Water reservoir or drain pan• Float, float valve orifice, and valve seat• Water solenoid valve orifice and strainer
Humidifiers
Check for water overflow On wheel-type humidifiers, an

Air Cleaners
Types:• Mechanical• Electronic
Air Cleaners
Mechanical Air Filters• Change with each inspection or as
needed to provide proper airflow• Fiberglass & pleated filters should be
thrown away• Metal & foam filters can be washed &
reused
Air Cleaners
Electronic Air Cleaners:• Turn power off to unit (9,000 to 11,000
VDC supplied by cleaner’s transformer)• Remove the pre-filters and air cleaner
cells• Clean inside of cabinet• Clean pre-filters with a mild soap
solution
Air Cleaners
Electronic Air Cleaners:• Wash air cleaner cells with a solution
of 3/4 cups of standard dishwasher detergent and hot water
• Soak cells in solution for 15 to 20 minutes
• Rinse until all the solution is removed
Air Cleaners
Electronic Air Cleaners:• Inspect cells for any damage and
reinstall with pre-filters• Leave system’s blower on for 30
minutes with power off to air cleaner to dry the cells thoroughly
Heat Recovery Ventilators
A heat recovery device to temper fresh air intake to a
temperature closer to return air temperature and remove the stale
air from a home
Heat Recovery Ventilators
Filters should be changed monthly and interior blower maintained on
the same schedule as the furnace/air handler
Heat Recovery Ventilators
Drain pans and interior of unit:• Clean the foil-faced insulation surface
and wipe the drain pans with a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution
• Make sure condensate drain line is not blocked
Heat Recovery Ventilators
Heat Recovery Cores:• Remove from unit and clean once per
year• Use warm water and a mild soap• Soak recovery core in solution for
about three hours• Allow to dry before reinstalling
Condensate Pumps
Remove pump from system Remove reservoir from pump Clean reservoir of any dirt or grime
and check float Reinstall Add water to system to check
pumping operation
Planned Maintenance on Self-Contained
Refrigeration Units
Refrigeration Units
•Record make, model and serial numbers
•Check the condition of the condenser and evaporator coils and clean if necessary
•Check and record the suction and discharge pressures
•Check the condition of any electrical connections and cords.
Refrigeration Units
•Check door hinge screws for tightness
•Check the condition of the door gasket(s)
•Check amperage draw of the compressor and compare to manufacturer’s specifications
Refrigeration Units
•Check drain line for clogs or obstructions
•Check evaporator’s airflow pattern for any obstructions or blockages
•Check and record the case temperature.
