A student is named to the Dean’s List who achieves a GPA of 3.2 or higher for a minimum course load equivalent to 16 semester hours. Berea College, located in Berea, Ky., is a non-denomi- national, comprehensive college that offers Bachelor’s degrees in 32 majors, including arts and sciences and select professional programs, as well as independent majors designed by students to mirror approved majors at other colleges. On March 7 the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) 20 members from Harrison County ATC traveled to Northern Kentucky University to compete at the Region 4 FBLA Conference. Students competed in events, made new friends and attended the talent show. Local winners were: Gabrielle Richie, first in Business Law; Jacob Marsh, first in Economics; Josh Godman, first in Help Desk; Quinne Moore, Abbey Hehr, and Samantha Adkins first in Local Chapter Scrapbook; Erin Bradford, first in Public Speaking I; Shawn Ravenscraft, first in Ann Visnic Scholarship; Jacob Marsh second in American Enterprise Project; Kaitlyn Swinford, second in Hospitality Management; Abbey Hehr and Whitney Gaunce, second in Local Chapter Newsletter; Abbey Hehr, third in Community Service Project; Whitney Gaunce, third in Health Care Management; Samantha Adkins, third in Local Chapter Annual Business Report; Ally Barnett was a finalist in Job Interview. Abbey Hehr was also nominated for Region 4 Who’s Who in Kentucky FBLA. These winners will compete April 23-25 in Louisville at the State FBLA Conference. He was the son of Donald and Betty Gaunce Bowles of Cynthiana. Services will be Tuesday, March 20 at 1 p.m. at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home with burial in the Carlisle Cemetery. Dan P. Hedges, 67 Dan P. Hedges, 67, of Mt. Olivet, Ky., died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky. Survivors include: his wife, Peggy Hale; and two daughters, Susan Fish of Waverly, Ohio, and Becky Schalch of Mt. Olivet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melbourne and Imogene. A memorial was held Monday, March 19 at the Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Dee Whitaker officiating. There was no graveside service. Catherine Allison Hollar, 97 Catherine Allison Hollar, 97, widow of Hisel R. Hollar, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 9, 1915 in Nicholas County to the late Charles and Addie Green Allison. She was a retired employee of Allison’s Catering and a member of Saltwell United Methodist Church. Survivors include: two sons, Joe Allen (Carmie) Hollar, Millersburg, Rudy (Kanna) Hollar, Flemingsburg; a daughter, Brenda Ann Hunt, Cynthiana; three grand- children, Tony Hunt, Bridgett Hunt and Bradley Hollar; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and neph- ews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carolyn Denise Hollar, three brothers, Charles “Herb”, Bill and Lovell “Peanuts” Allison, and three sisters, Fern Alexander, Clara Curd and Margaret Kiser.
