ABSTRACT
Perhaps, lack of commitment on the part of bank employees is behind much of the
behaviour blamed for high costs and poor services rendered by most of them. Many banking
organizations are facing challenges regarding Organisational commitment among their
employees. This study investigated participation in decision making and communication
satisfaction as determinants of Organisational commitment among employees of Eco bank
Plc in Lagos state.
The study adopted the ex-post facto design. A total number of 120 bank employees
were purposively sampled from bank branches in Ibadan. A questionnaire consisting of
participation in decision making scale adapted from Vroom (1960), Communication
Satisfaction scale adapted from Goldhaber, Yates, Porter and Lesniak (1978) and
Organisational commitment developed Meyer and Allen (1991) were administered to the
bank employees in the study along with demographic information. Three hypotheses were
tested using t-test for independent samples.
Results showed that participation in decision making significantly influence
Organisational commitment among bank employees (t = -2.09; df = 118; P. 05). The results finally showed sex difference (t=-2.11; df=118; P
