3 main strands

of activities

TRANSNATIONAL NETWORKS

Exchange and learning among cities - sharing

experiences (problems, solutions), identify good

practices to design & implement integrated

urban policies

CAPACITY BUILDING

Enhancing the capacities of urban practitioners

and policy-makers to develop integrated and

participatory approaches to urban development

CAPITALISATION

COMMUNICATION

recommendations, good practices to a wider audience of policy-

makers & practitioners

Following the first successful round of Action Planning networks

2nd round in URBACT III

with 23 Action Planning networks

5

You can learn more about the results from first round of Action Planning networks here: • ‘Cities in Action Stories of Change’ publication (LINK)

• Webpages of networks (LINK) • Articles on the URBACT website and blog (LINK 1, LINK 2)

You want to tackle an urban policy challenge and find

solutions through the production of an integrated action plan

You wish to improve or change local policies by sharing

experiences and exchange knowledge with other European cities working on similar challenges

You are eager to involve relevant key stakeholders and

practice participatory culture by learning new tools and

methods for effective policy- making

6

Why are you here?

7

What does URBACT

offer?

Learning from peers across Europe

Experimentation* at local level

Enhancing capacities for policy-making

Accessing financial resources and URBACT support for exchange and learning

Adding value through the URBACT knowledge

hub and programme experts

“Thanks to the plurality of ideas and experiences we

offered each other, out-of-the box thinking and the

use of unconventional methods to work on our

SUMPs, we all grew richer in terms of knowledge and

capacities and became friends by our joint work.”

Bielefeld (DE), Lead Partner

coordinator for CityMobilNet

“It will be remembered as

an opportunity to experiment and explore.

Communities will remember the fun events that brought

people together. Institutions will be effected by changes

in ways of working.”

Glasgow City Council (UK), partner in RESILIENT

EUROPE

“URBACT already provides

significant support for network cities: e.g. offers textbooks, best practices,

case studies, and webinars. It organises URBACT

Summer University which is extremely helpful. We took advantage of those tools.”

Cities engaging in the right to housing

URBACT & IUA Initiative

To explore how cities can design housing policies and

practical solutions to implement the right to housing.

to push the agenda on the right to housing EU wide

One year capitalisation activity with URBACT and Innovative Urban Actions

Three topics

- Community led practices shared ownership, cohousing,

cooperative housing, re-municipalisation of housing

- No one left behind: housing by vulnerable groups with a focus on

homelessness, ethnic minority, gender, disability

- Fair finance: municipal strategies protecting housing from

speculation

Workshops (first during the Cities Forum in Porto, 31 January ) and political

event to put the right to housing in the EU Agenda

“Thanks to the plurality of ideas and experiences we

offered each other, out-of-the box thinking and the

use of unconventional methods to work on our

SUMPs, we all grew richer in terms of knowledge and
