About IMovie

To film our Prelim video we, as a group, chose to use iMovie. iMovie is a proprietary video editing software application sold by Apple. It can be used on the Mac and iOS products such as iPhone, Ipad, Ipad Mini and Ipod Touch. In 1999 it was released originally bundled with the first FireWire-enabled consumer Mac Model. iMovie imports video or photo footage from a hard drive. After doing that, the creator can edit the photos and video clips and also add titles, music and effects. Some of the effects include colour correction and video enhancement tools. Transitions can also be added such as fades and slides.

Why We Choose IMovie

We thought that because our clip was only 30 seconds long, we thought that it would be best to use this software on one of our group member’s iPhones. After downloading the app for £2.99 from iTunes, we were able to play about with it and find out how it works. The group found out very quickly that it was really easy to use and had the essential things we need. For the prelim production process we only needed the basic of technology and we all agreed that iMovie gave us what we needed.

After Filming Our Prelim

After the filming process, we then played around with the editing part of iMovie. We also found out that this was very easy to use. We added and subtracted transitions like the fades we had, some of them we had to extend and some we had to make shorter. When we watched the final product, we realised how much iMovie has benefitted us in this process and we are very glad that we used this application to complete our prelim task.
