Transcript of a4 Magazine
WelcomeYou ask, what is a4? Besides being the International Organization for Standardization’s official name for an 8.5” x 11” piece of paper it is also an amalgam of the first letter of my name, a, and the number four. Given that this will be a publication by me (Amy) and will be issued quarterly (4), I thought a4 as a title was pretty neat.
This is the spring issue.

L to R: Moto Hayden Rip and Repair boyfriend jeans, Topshop; Loved to Death boyfriend jeans, Old Navy; Buckley boyfriend jeans, rag & bone.
Think about itThe distressed boyfriend jean: Have you been seeing these everywhere? Me too. In fact I bought the Old Navy jeans shown above because I was interested in the style. Morphing from the skinny, rock ‘n roll cut shown by Balmain in 2010, the current roomier cut and fit makes this style incredibly wearer friendly. The benefits of the boyfriend jean: soooooo comfortable (truly), so easy, clearly a major trend, equally wearable with a worn-out tee and ballet flats or a summery blouse and heels. The drawbacks of the boyfriend jean: buy them too big and you are teetering on the edge of a slovenly look, it’s a bit weird to pay for pre-torn up denim, and clearly a major trend. Think about it, do you really want to look like everyone else out there in your clothing choices? Me neither.
Mine went back, unworn, to Old Navy.
Spring in your stepThe summer sandal: Buy one pair of new sandals every summer. It’s always easy to find terrific styles whatever your price-point and it’s a simple way to bring something fun and fresh into your closet.
TL: Laguna sandals, Victoria’s Secret. TR: Ankle wrap wedge sandals, Gap.BL: Pompom sandals, Anthropologie. BR: Beatbox crisscross sandals, Urban Outfitters.
Top: Everlane band collar silk blouse.Middle: L-Atitude Old Banjaran necklace.Bottom: L’Oreal The infallible Blackbuster.

It surprises even me that one of the most chic looks I’ve come across of late is a combination of sweatshirt separates covered in cream sequins. I consider the heft of the garments against the loucheness of their structure and it seems the ultimate luxury: Comfort and style. Limited Edition Collection, top and skirt, at Topshop.
