Personal Connection I felt a personal connection to this

organization because I was healed from being mentally and emotionally battered from a relationship through writing poetry. I felt that when I wrote I was expressing feelings that I couldn’t express or explicate out loud and this gave the strength to finally say them.

Specific Program Survivor’s Art Circle- They are

workshops that create connections and give support for domestic violence survivors. Who are unable to receive help from shelters.

It provides a creative “circle” that is formed by survivors that gives a safe and happy environment for the members to be able to express themselves through an art form.

Community Need Women who are battered and have

children feel the need to take the abuse because they feel alone and are unable to escape the rote cruelty.

With this organization, we provide the strength and scaffolding to help these women and children heal from their haunted past and escape the abuse.

Appeals to Funding Institution Shuttleworth Foundation is geared

towards artistic ideas. This would link to CT & CA by having

these women and children: to analyze other points of views about their past incidents, to think creatively, to question the actions of others in the future, to make educated decisions, to act in an informed way, and to replace their weak thinking with strong thinking.
