Background of TCO and TCO tool
The use of Total Cost of Ownership -ethod (also known as Total
Ownership Cost -ethod) allows anufacturers to tailor the
desi/n to the uni0ue econoic situation of each transforer user$
and allows the user to evaluate ultiple desi/ns in order to find out
the optial solution for his need
The eas",to,use ABB Transforer TCO Tool supports custoers
to deterine$ !ased on their own situation and future scenario$ the
ri/ht loss capitalisation values to !e used in their in0uir" to !e
passed to the anufacturers
The tool also helps in coparin/ different alternative transforer
offers$ calculates the onetar" savin/s and evaluates theenvironental ipact and therefore supports the related decision
akin/ and increases the awareness
Current version 1.1. supports in addition to n/lish lan/ua/e also
Chinese$ Geran$ rench and panish lan/ua/es

TCO tool is an universal easy-to-use tool for
3eterinin/ the transforer loss capitali4ation values (5A5 and
5B5 factors)
Coparin/ transforers with different first cost and loss values
fro the followin/ aspects
Total cost of ownership with pa"!ack tie on ar/inal cost
Consuption of ener/"
CO% eission ipact (in k/ of CO%) with analo/ue to the
nu!er of trees needed to copensate the e6tra eissions
caused !" the trafo with lower efficienc"
Calculation forulas are !ased on 7C #&&8#,%& (current draft)on applica!le parts (the results are full" applica!le with 575
transforers as well)

Cooling losses
Coolin/ losses of a transforer e0ual the power consuption of
the coolin/ e0uipent of the transforer. 7n case of coolin/ with
natural oil and air flow (O?A?)$ the coolin/ losses are 4ero due to
the fact that no additional power for pups or fans is needed
>ith transforers with forced oil flow (OA$ O3A or O>) thepups for oil are usuall" ener/ised at no load condition of the unit.
Therefore$ for a t"pical case the coolin/ losses at no load () for
those transforers e0ual the power consuption of the oil pups
