Baptismal Font

The Baptismal font is a vessel where the water for Baptisms is held. In this case it is a large fountain located at the back of the chapel. It has a place for the priest and a placefor the person who is being baptized. Because this is a fountain, it makes it possible to submerge the child completely in the water for his or her baptism. Baptism is often described as “the first sacrament” or “the door of the sacrament”. It is as if you are being reborn as a member of the church.
