Summary

During the first expansion The Roman Empire gained all of Italy. Rome had to rebuild its city with borders all around it so it was hard to invade.

During the second expansion The Roman Empire gained The Alps, Macedonia, Spain, Sicily, and part of Carthage. They won all this land by fighting Cartage for it.

During the third expansion The Roman Empire gained Gaul (France), part of Asia Minor, and Part of Egypt. They gained this land because Caesar and Pompey had a fight to see who could get the most land.

During the fourth expansion The Roman Empire gained Britain, the rest of Spain, and Egypt. They gained this because Octavian had to defeat jealous rivals.
