It’s based in 1985 in Ealing, west London in a normal hoary suburban high street.

Thatcherism is at its height and it’s a cynical period. This is a story of two people

rebelling against their employer, set against a backdrop of a country rebelling

against its government. Robin Banks is one person who lost everything, the love

of his life and daughter in a brutal divorce. Always on the run from his past he is

in contempt with his new job as a bank accountant ‘Bucks’ bank, however has

been to laid off with all its employers. His termly ill Daughter motivates his

escapist idea of a robbery. Confident with his knowledge of the Bucks bank

security Robin recruits Janitor John Sweeps and plans to rob the bank. After

planning the perfect robbery, accountant Robin Banks and janitor John Sweeps

have made a flawless robbery dash into ‘Bucks’ bank vault to steal 2.5 million

pounds. But Joan law pursues them both into the vault. In a deadly brawl between

Robin and Joan, John Sweeps is shot dead. The gun shot activates the vault alarm,

thus sealing the door. Whilst fighting for survival Robin plunge’s a screw driver

into Joan Law. However Robin is trapped, within the constraints of the vault and

awaits the sirens. Injured and confused Robin wakes up with a broken nose,

whilst covered in blood tries to remember how the plans go so wrong. The

situation becomes much sterner when robin realizes that private detective Joan

Law is now dead. Alone and staring at two dead bodies all Robin can think about

is his daughter and ignores crimes he has committed. Sweeps dies, leaving Robin

to face the consequences, as he still remains entombed. Time is gradually running

out for robin, as the siren’s and voices echo closer can he escape in time? Or face

lifetime in prison?

Turning point 1 – Act 1

The two flawlessly enter the vault. However they are trapped, within the

constraints of the vault and await the sirens

Joan Law purse’s them into the vault. John reaches for the weapon and gets shot

triggering the alarm sealing them all in the vault. whilst covered in blood tries to

remember how this flawless plan did went so bad

Trapped with a lifetime supply of crash, has Robin realized is that all his own

blood? The situation has taken a darker tone a body of a private detective Joan

Law arrives is in the same room as them

Climax/Resolution

Robin realizes that he killed Joan Law

New World/New Equilibrium

The Police break from the other side break through the vault. Robin now knowing

he killed Joan Law pulls something from his blazer breast pocket. The police open

fire after warning him. Robin wasn’t reaching for any weapon of the sorts, only to

reveal a picture of his six year daughter on the floor.

Very Intelligent, possible oxford degree in Mathematics. Posh but not rich making

him middle class. Fairly tall. 5’11. Robin is English, cockney.

Blonde hair, blue eyes. Clean cut wears suits. Outwardly very charismatic,

handsome, but very sinister and contains a serious dark side. Robin isn’t a serial

killer, but for the sake of getting the money his daughter needs he wouldn’t mind

killing anyone who stands in the way. Robin wears a white blazer, white trousers,

John Sweeps – age late 50’s making him 54 years old. Like Robin, John has been

laid off from his job as a janitor. Personality: John has a English accent, scruffy,

always wearing the same black overalls. He is Short 5.5, with a long overgrown

grey beard. John is unsure and seen as cowardly because of his doubts of the

Joan Law age 45, smart, perfect hair that falls unbroken grey curtains. American,

her husband cheated with a 19 year old cockney girl. This made her cheat men

and cockneys even more, which means she is has personal grudge against cockney

people. She wears a suit with a skirt that goes below the knees.

Not so Maria. She glared at me furiously. It was obvious she didn’t like the final line of the fairytale. The sun was about to set on our little family reunion. We packed our things and walked to the tram. For a time the little girl skipped along the path in front of us. ‘Daddy, daddy!’ she muttered. Then Maria took my hand and squeezed it. I noticed her eyes were full of tears. When we got down into the city again, we went our separate ways. That was the last time I saw Maria and the child. We’ve been influenced by this extract from ‘The Ring Master Daughters’ and we

have changed it to the idea that ‘A Lifetime’ Robin Banks has lost his wife and

daughter in a brutal divorce. Robin is constantly starves for the love of his term ill

daughter Anna. Also we have based the character ‘Robin Banks’ on Petter Spider,

From the novel ‘The Ringmasters Daughter’. We based Robin on Petter’s vain, slick

and intellect ways. However Robin differs from Petter showing a more darker

personality, who doesn’t stop at nothing until gets his daughter the money that

will save her life.

‘A Lifetime’ (2012) is set in one room, which is the vault which contains 2.5 million

pounds. This means we are going to rely heavily on the dialogue and action, which

means we will produce a high quality script.

A Lifetime is based in the time 1985 in Ealing, west London on location suburban

high street. A lifetime is a story of two people stealing from the employer. Robin

Banks is a character who already lost everything, his family and wife. Robin

Banks strives for his termly daughters love by financially supporting her with his

new job as a bank accountant ‘Bucks’ bank. However he has been too laid because

of the bank has liquidized. The thought of not supporting his termly ill Daughter

financially, motivates the robbery.

Robin is confident with his knowledge of the Bucks bank security Robin recruits

Janitor John Sweeps and they set to rob ‘Bucks’ bank on the eve of Christmas the

day of closing. Robin and John make their flawless dash robbery into ‘Bucks’ bank

vault to steal 2.5 million pounds. But Joan law pursues them both into the vault. In

a deadly brawl between Robin and Joan, John Sweeps is shot dead. The gun shot

activates the vault alarm, thus sealing the door. Whilst fighting for survival Robin

within the constraints of the vault and awaits the sirens. Injured and confused

The spaces are going to be fairly tight this will be shown with camera angles. We

are looking to create a pressurized situation with the clock ticking to show that

the police are coming.

When dealing with the disabilities and diseases of Schizophrenia and concussion’s

we aim to keep it respective to reality. In doing so any persons who are affected

with this disabilities and diseases will not take any offence. How will we do this?

We will do this through a great deal of research on both themes and incorporate

their relevance into the film script.

. This entire sequence will be well lite showing actors expressions. Lighting will be

selected to enhance the darkness of the vault the use of flashlight and emergency

alarm flickers red. In doing we want to capture a contemporary Neo-noir style

through a varied light source.

The reason actors were used for a

script read through is to improve

dialogue, making sound more natural

and realistic. By introducing profanities

it’s believed creating a gritty and hard-

hitting atmosphere making all three

main characters relate with audiences.

However script read through now gives the dialogue a more visual nature making

future directors aware of the emotion and how high the stakes are in this

situation. Nevertheless this makes audiences sympathize with the characters after

understanding the story through there prospective and dialogue. It’s important

capturing these characters prospective and how they got into this situation,

because ‘A lifetime’ starts at the near end of the film. This concept is similar to

films like Todd Solandz’s ‘Happiness’ (1999) with the intro being the start end of a

couple’s relationship as they are breaking up. All the Photograph’s where taken

by Chadwin Cloate a member of our Screenplay group ‘Dolphin Gangster’s’.

Style (post production ideas): A Lifetime’s visual style in a Black and white tone

like Film noir. However in ‘A Lifetime’ will push the boundaries with its neo-noir

colour accents and explicit violence. Originally ‘A lifetime’ was set to be in colour,

but our script group ‘Dolphin Gangsters’ thought it was too conventional.

Nevertheless this will bring stylistic edge to the explicit violence scenes in the film

it now changed to black and white with a Pleasantville effect or bleach bypass in

post-production.

What We The Group ‘Dolphin Gangsters’ Learned From The Three Act Structure

Act one

Is often the setup placing the characters in their surrounds, but also revealing their nature and characteristics. Rarely screenplays often have the characters return to the original ‘setup’ this occurs in Jim Gillespie’s film short ‘Joyride’ (1995).

Act Two We learn more about the characters and story through visual storytelling or dialogue. Often by this act tension arises as we develop the stories direction and the characters motivation.

Act ThreeThis at is the breaking point. The conclusion to the entire story whether the character realizes their goal or potentially dies.

The Three Act structure for The Screenplay ‘A Lifetime’ Written By Damian Boyd Throughout writing our screen play we have focused on producing a strong three act plot basis using the classical three act rule that we weren’t during class with a slight change in the opening act. This helped as it allowed us to work through the process of creating a detailed and an immersive story within the three minute time frame.

Act one: The inciting incident (Setup)In this screenplay the plot point indicating the end of act one (or the setup) is the sealing of the bank vault. The opening act in our screen play is not a conventional one as the characters are not introduced in great detail, but instead this happens to a greater degree in the second act. The end of this act features the point of no return when the door has been sealed and Joan is stabbed.

Act Two: The midpoint of the film (confrontation) During this act we learn more about the character of Robin as he clutches the photograph of his daughter. Throughout this act the tension continues to rise when the characters reach the midpoint of the story, as Robin reaches his goal (the money inside the bank) but it no longer has any meaning that his friend has died this signal the end of act two.

Act Three: The Climax (Resolution) This act begins as the police open the vault door and begin to storm into the vault to discover the police officer Joan laying on the floor having been stabbed by Robin, the police then open fire on him giving the character his resolution. Armed robbers left DNA at scene

“Cardiff Crown Court was told the men from Birmingham shot a guard and stole £75,000 from the Halifax Bank, Newport.

Ryan Gamble, 23, Leroy Davidson, 22, and Daniel Nelson, 27, deny carrying out the armed robbery.

Michail Sinclair, 20, admits robbery and possessing a firearm, but denies unlawful wounding. The trial continues.

Prosecutor Michael Mather-Lees said the men had committed a "determined and carefully planned robbery" in Newport in October 2005.” He told the court: "This was a proper bank robbery - they shot the security guard. But what they did not know was something had fallen out of one of their pockets. In 2005 a robbery took place at the Halifax bank in Newport. Three men went into the bank and took hostage of a security guard who was delivering envelopes of foreign currency. After taking 3 boxes containing £25,000 the men shot the guard in the leg and they made off in a high powered car. The men were only caught because one of them dropped a lighter that contained some of their DNA.

This true story became an interest that the robbery took place in Newport a local residence for our group studying at Newport Film School, city campus. This is similar to our screenplay ‘A lifetime’ because it’s a high stakes bank robbery, also, there was an accident where someone got hurt and the robbery didn’t go as planned.. However the screenplay toned down the gun violence and made the stakes higher. – Chadwin Cloete

‘A lifetime’ is based on true events, but however the story has changed and making characters more sympatric. However ‘A lifetime’ as explicit as it is takes the gun violence into account as a gun becomes a major obstacle. It felt that three bank robbers where far too many, instead a ‘A Lifetime’ only uses two ‘Robin Banks’ and ‘John Sweeps’. Also a noticeable difference is that ‘A lifetime’ is based in the 1980’s where we explore a slick and heavy English cockney style. We changed the ending of ‘A lifetime’ cutting all tides to an open ending whether the concept of ‘good’ or ‘evil’ wins ‘Scott Draper has demolished all chances of an open ending and potential sequel, because a sequel would be irrelevant, (SPOILER) as the main character ‘Robin Banks’ dies. Nevertheless to answer the question ‘A lifetime’ is vaguely based on this true event it is, but however has been changed to be more entertaining and diverse. Despite resolving the matter out of court in late 2001 and re-establishing a normal relationship with his children, O'Connor pledged to reform family law for the benefit of his two sons whom he feared would suffer the same experience when they became fathers. This research led to discovery of fathers separated from their daughters and how they dedicate themselves to getting back in contact with their children.

This article campaign help give ‘A lifetime’ character ‘Robin Banks’ motivation for robbing the bank other than getting wealthy. The brutal separation between him and his wife led him to lose contact with his daughter. Now as she becomes termly ill and as he loses his job he becomes pushed to the edge. His daughter ‘Anna Banks´ serves as ‘Robins’ motivation, but the thought of not getting her money triggers a dark side to him and can’t stop until all is out his path. Despite ‘Robin’ killing a police officer and being totally guilty for his crimes, Anna proves bring ‘Robin’ sympathy. She does this by being his motivation and fact that his doing the robbery not for greed or wealth. Anna regardless of her featuring in the script serves as more of a character, but more of ‘Robin Banks’ is background story.

Isolation became an important theme as the characters ‘Robin Banks’ and ‘John Sweeps’ trapped inside a vault containing millions of pounds. By isolating the characters this made them desperate to escape, and creates a darker tone as they all use their basic instinct to kill or be killed. – Scott Draper Article: Security Guard is Trapped In vault I once locked myself out of my flat and was quite embarrassed when I had to call the landlord to get me back in. question managed to lock himself into the vault of a cash machine on Saturday and was trapped for five hours before rescuers managed to set him free. Firefighters ended up having to slice through the metal door using hydraulic and electric cutting equipment. The length of time taken to free the guard is testament to the strength and security of the door. It all took place at a Tesco Express store in Romford Essex after the man went into the vault at 8am. During his ordeal, the guard was fed orange juice through a oxygen tube that was passed through a small hole in the door. (Website: Yell News Bloggers. ‘A Lifetime’ captures a similar emotion as this story, but doesn’t focus on realism in the sense the characters are running out of oxygen and passing. This didn’t appeal to the story because every second times running out for ‘Robin Banks’ meaning that the character are not trapped in there for a long period of time.

Family Guy: "Brian and Stewie" 150 th episode. If you can get past the toilet humor, it's surprisingly dramatic.US, May 3, 2010Now, on to the actual episode. Brian and Stewie get locked in a bank vault for a couple of days, leaving them alone to work out some personal differences and learn a bit more about each other. Right away I was thinking that the show had gone the Brian-Stewie route so many times before that they really couldn't find anything new to add, but I'll admit that by the end I felt differently(Website: IGN. ROBIN BANKS: Fuck sake John, open it! Police are almost ‘ere.

I’m trying, wait one moment! Aha Gotcha!

Loud clanks of the vaults handle being breached. Light gradually begins to brighten the Vault as the door opens at a dawdling pace. The eruption happens, whilst by the lurid roar of the longstanding door opening. The vault opens revealing a beam of light and two people standing in astonishment. Both Robin and John turn to face one other simultaneously.

JOHN: (Pause) Let’s make a start

A loud clanking of high heels, followed by shouting that catches John and Robins attention. As they both instantly turn around.

JOAN LAW: Stop right there! I just knew.... you two would strike, tonight! I just never thought I’d be this punctual on finding you two out.

ROBIN: Love! You got to understand, my little girl... She’s dying love, you’ve got to...

JOAN: Understand? Well you’ve got to understand that I’ve got a job to do, taking you two fuckers in. . John curiously reaches for the tool pack on the right of him. Joan grabs the hand cuffs from of her waist pocket, throws them to Robin.

JOAN: Here...Put these on, quickly now.

John reaches closer to the screw driver on the table, failing to not notice that Joan has seen him. John quickly picks it up, suddenly the loud bang of a pistol echoes through the room. John drops backwards onto the floor. The alarm is triggered by the sound, automatically sealing the vault door. Neglecting this Robin lunges himself at Joan.

ROBIN:

Sweeps Nooooo!

Joan Screams as the gun is thrown across the room whilst she is wrestling Robin on the floor. Robin throws Joan (Continued) across the room, near where John is. Balancing by a thread is the screw driver on the edge of the table. Joan falls back against the table causing the screw driver to fall right in the middle both of them.Robin runs and slides across the floor to grab the screw driver.Robin grabs the screw driver and plunges it into her stomach, before she could get the gun.

Robin pulls out a photograph of his daughter Anna. Robin picks himself up, whilst the loud impact of screw driver dropping, Leaves Strident echoes’ in the room Robin lies savaging through her blazer, Robin finds her badge and recites to himself:

ROBIN: Private Detective Joan Law of Robbery & homicide Ealing police department. Shit she was a certified hero.

On the floor in the distance a sound of a cough revealing John wounded and gasping for air.

JOHN: Robin? (Cough)

Robin races over to aid John.

ROBIN: I’m here mate, I’m... Here

JOHN: I’m getting too old for this....

ROBIN: Sweeps! C’mon, Sweeps C’mon!

John stares into the distance before his bereavement. Robin neglecting this pulls out a pocket photograph of his daughter. Robin presses against the cold and perfunctory money draws in astonishment.

ROBIN: My Annie... I’ve let you down (pause). I couldn’t get you the money you needed. Now my little plan, now has taken a sour turn haven’ it . The things.... I’ve done they’ll sure take you away from me.

Garish shouting echoes from other side vault door gradually becoming louder. Robin Neglecting the fact that the police are slowly pushing forward, still stares at the photograph.

ROBIN:

Now I wait for the inevitable, cause sometimes a lifetime isn’t worth it and a lifetime is all I’ll ever know in solitude. (Continued)

POLICE OFFICER TWO: Ok its unhinged go, go!

The police breakthrough with a crash of the vault hatch being unhinged, Followed by frantic sprinting of the officer’s feet. Meanwhile Robin still gazes at the photo.

POLICE OFFICER TWO: Put your hands up, now!

POLICE OFFICER ONE: Joan... My god. Officer Peterson I’m to check on her, cover me!

OFFICER PETERSON Rodger that!

The 1st officer runs over and crouches to feel the pulse of Joan. ROBIN: I’m going to do this for both of us love. One day you’ll understand.

Robin kisses and packs the photo into his blazer. Now rising from below and instantly gains the polices attention. The 1st officer dashes to the right of the other and cocks his gun.

POLICE OFFICER ONE: Stay right where you are you sick son of a bitch!

Robin gradually stumbles closer whilst reaching for the photo in his blazer breast pocket.

POLICE OFFICER ONE: I told stay right where you are! STOP!

OFFICER PETERSON: Don’t do it buddy!

POLICE OFFICER ONE: Open fire now.

Simultaneously, both officers load their guns and open fire. Robin becomes bombarded by bullets, causing him to crash towards the floor. The Rambling of the crash to the floor revealing what Robin had held on to revealing the Photograph of Anna, covered in blood.
