ABOUT THE ART ASSOCIATION
The Art Association is dedicated to artistic excellence, offering a welcoming, encouraging and collaborative venue for a wide variety of visual art. Our facility provides 10,000 square-feet of studios, classrooms and gallery space. Instruction and exploration is offered in the mediums of painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, silversmithing, screen printing, mixed media and more, along with a contemporary art gallery featuring hundreds of local and regional artists. These programs are all dedicated to fostering creativity through the arts for people from 2 to 90+ years, beginners to professional artists.
The Art Association is a hub of creativity with something to offer every child, adult, local and visitor to northwest Wyoming.
The ART ASSOCIATION OF JACKSON HOLE is the leader of visual arts programming in Northwest Wyoming.
For 49 years, it has made art a vital part of creative life, advancing, promoting and expanding cultural heritage.
The staff, board,
instructors and
volunteers
annually provide
visual art
experiences
for over
22,000 people.
Key offerings include adult and youth art
classes and workshops, an extensive outreach program
to underserved populations, changing exhibitions, art fairs,
collaborative programs and special events.
In 1963, a group of visionary residents founded the Art Association for neighbors to share talents and to supplement minimal public arts education available.
FROM ITS HUMBLE ORIGINS OVER A KITCHEN TABLE
ON A COLD WINTER’S NIGHT,
it has steadily evolved to the multidimen-sional visual arts organization it is today.

This class will explore making images without a camera by placing ob-jects directly onto the surface of a light-sensitive material (photographic paper) and then exposing it to light. The result is a negative shadow im-age that shows variations in tone that depends upon the transparency of the objects used. Areas of the paper that have received no light appear white; those exposed through transparent or semi-transparent objects appear grey. Come explore painting with light in the darkroom!

In the digital age of photography it is vital to have an efficient workflow. This two-part course will explore the technical and creative aspects of Adobe Lightroom and provide a fundamental understanding of how to incorporate the software into digital workflow.
Part 1: students will learn the fundamental principles of Lightroom as a catalogue software. Setting up an organized image database is critical to workflow and Lightroom is an important tool in managing that image data. Topics covered will be: Catalogue Creation and Setup, Image Database Structure, RAW Capture and Non Destructive Imaging, Importing Data to Lightroom, and Managing Image Data with the Library Module.
Part 2: will focus on the creative aspects of Adobe Lightroom. Students will work intensely with the Develop module to learn the tools that can take their photography to the next level. Topics covered in this section will be: RAW file processing/toning using the tools of the Develop Module, Output-ting images for specific uses, and using the Slideshow and Web Modules to create dynamic presentations.
This course is appropriate for the novice to intermediate photographer who wants to refine their skills in the digital photo realm. It is highly encour-aged (but not required) that students take both sections of the course to maximize their skills.
