The a and X s p e c t r a a r e s i m i l a r i n t h e c o n f i g u r a t i o n s c l o s e
t o c r i t i c a l i t y , b e c a u s e t h e a e f f e c t i s an a b s o r p t i o n a / v , and
t h e X e f f e c t i s t o d i v i d e t h e s c a t t e r i n g s o u r c e by t h e X v a l u e
