A CLEANING CHECKLIST

BEFORE MOVING IN

If you want to sell your house in Appleton WI, the Laroux Team is your one-stop realtor agent to call. But we do not just talk about selling houses and buying homes here! Your friendly Appleton WI real estate agent is not just dedicated to helping you find the best home possible. In today's blog, we will teach you a thing or two about prepping your home-to-be before you proceed to the laborious moving process.

Depending on the present conditions of your future home, some thorough cleaning is in order before all the hullabaloo of moving starts. Who would want to deal with a frenzied pile of boxes plus an untidy space on your first day at home, right? We know how moving takes its toll on you mentally, emotionally, and physically. Here we give you some tips to keep in mind as you start cleaning around days before you move in.

1. KITCHEN COUNTERS

Who loves a dirty kitchen? Unless you admire a cluttered cooking nook, you might pass on this one. The kitchen is usually one of the areas in the house were certain food smells (foul or not) tend to linger even after previous homeowners are gone. Make sure to sanitize every nook and corner of the kitchen, especially in between cracks of the counters and kitchen sinks. Lucky you if the previous owners barely use this side of the house!

2. BATHROOMS

You can never be too sure if the bathroom is totally squeaky clean and sanitary before you move in. Unless your home predecessors are despicably unhygienic to leave dirty bathrooms, you might as well still make sure to clean the toilet bowls, walls, and counters.

3. CABINETS AND CUPBOARDS

Before you transfer your pristine collection of dishes, utensils, and other cookware, check if the insides of your cabinets and cupboards are spotless. You use these things for eating and cooking, so definitely it will do you no harm to double check if it is clean as a whistle. A mild cleaner does the trick, especially for wooden cabinets and tops. For stubborn stains, especially grease, you can make a baking soda and water mixture or pull out your trusty apple cider vinegar!

5. APPLIANCES

For kitchen stoves, ovens, and refrigerators, you might need to do some heavy-duty cleaning. Using your trusty appliance cleaners, make sure to go through all the sides of the stove, including the front panel and the temperature dials. For metal trays and racks, you can soak them in soapy water for a couple of minutes. For the refrigerator, most likely it is already cleaned out. However, it is still ideal to tackle the drawers and bins before using them yourself. The thorough cleaning might scratch the surface of your appliances, so use a sponge or a soft cotton cloth. Check the inside walls, shelves, handle, and the freezer. Make sure that everything's all wiped clean and tidied up for your use!
