Packet microwave evolution focus points
Flexible solution to address all microwave applications
Reduce system tests and deployment Minimize spares and common parts Reduce costs of operation and maintenance
Address hybrid and packet transport with a common system
Leverage on existing microwave infrastructure Maintain current operational mode and operational
knowledge No need to deploy further boxes beside the microwave
equipment at any cell site Enable IP-transformation smoothly with no hardware
changes, resulting in reduced site visits Capability to transform the network where traffic and
services require, and not the whole network at one time
Maximize radio performances
Maximize use of air bandwidth, with awareness of different QoS
Ensure packet transport can provide equal performance to the TDM/ATM high-priority traffic
Ensure capacity scalability, in terms of switching and radio capacity

DEMO OBJECTIVES : PROOF 9500 MPR MAIN INNOVATIVE CONCEPTS
Multiservice Aggregation Layer Ethernet as common transmission layer
Demonstration of how the system is capable to aggregate any service/interface over a single transmission media (Gigabit Ethernet). In the demo, E1 Circuit Emulation will be use for to this purpose.
Service awareness: Traffic handling and quality management, queuing traffic according to
the type of service assigned, independent by the type of interface
Demonstration of how different services are managed by the system and how the system is capable to assign different priorities to provide same voice quality than any legacy system.
Packet Node: All services aggregated over Ethernet
Demonstration of how the traffic is flowing through an intermediate aggregation node.
Service Driven Adaptive Modulation: Exploitation of the entire air bandwidth by changing modulation scheme
according to the propagation availability and allocate transport capacity
discriminating traffic by different services
Demonstration and focus on how the bandwidth change will impact the services and how the modulation switching does not affect the E1 transmission. Demonstration of adaptive modulation up to 256QAM.
