We bid farewell to the purple and welcome in the green and orange to help spring board our changes. Our

committee decided on this particular logo because we loved how it gave you the idea that you were “leaping”

into programs with us. We hope you like it as much as we do.

Along with new look comes many exciting features on our website! Starting with this month’s newsletter,

LEEP will be able to accept registrations for programming through our site. Before you can get started

registering you will need to create a username and password. (An email address is required for this so please

make sure you have a valid account set up prior to signing up on the site) Once a username is created and accepted

by LEEP, you or a staff/guardian will be able to register for LEEP activities.

After an individual registers for events online, a confirmation email will be sent with a confirmation list of

programs or events the individual registered for. If you are unable to create your own log in, please contact

LEEP as we would be happy to help you with this. LEEP is not able to accept payment via the site at this time.

There are many other pieces to the site that you will find of interest. Here are some of the highlights.

LEEP Special Olympics will have all sport information, including tournaments, available to athletes

LEEP Vacations has its own page that will give more in depth info for all travelers vacationing with us

An interactive Events Calendar that is easily readable and lists all upcoming events. You can sign up for

A staff bio page for each LEEP staff member to enable each of you to get to know us better

LEEP would like to thank LEEP’s Marketing Committee, LEEP’s Board of Directors, Higginbotham Designs, and

Voyageur Web for working so hard on this plan with us. Many hours of time went into this transition and

without their help this new look couldn’t have happened.

We hope this new site offers enables better access to our programming information for all LEEP Members!

Special Olympics Bowling Dates…

Area Bowling: Saturday, October 6, Louisville Lanes in Shakopee, MN

Regional Bowling: Late October (TBA)

State Bowling: The weekend of Nov. 9-11. Bowler dates and times have yet to be determined.

We will provide this information as soon it becomes available.

Athletes will receive more specific information on each tournament approximately 2-4 weeks before the tournament date.

Come to the National Guard Armory to help us celebrate

Halloween! The spook-tacular party begins at 7:00 p.m. and

we will “Monster Mash” until 9:00 p.m. Start planning your

costume today. Get creative because the LEEP staff will

judge the best costumes and you may even win a prize.

The cost to attend is $7.00. Staff will get in free if they wear

Monday- Pool & Darts Calling all sharp-shooters!! Join LEEP as we play billiards (Pool) and throw some

Darts. This class if for both beginners and the more advanced players. You will

improve on the skills you have and learn new skills and techniques. This class is for

everyone and you will get to pick your game of choice. *Games fees are included but

feel free to bring additional money for any snacks or beverages you may want to purchase.

Another Exciting Fall Elegance!!!

The Mankato Community is a great place for people with disabilities to live. Not only is the town welcoming of

diverse populations, there are numerous organizations that help to support those individuals in many capacities

such as recreational, vocational, and residential. On the reverse side of things, people with disabilities also give

back to the community in many ways, which include adding to our workforce, volunteerism, and diversity.

The Fall Elegance Dinner and Dance was created twelve years ago, to celebrate the contributions that people with

disabilities make to our greater Mankato Community. Our guests get the red carpet, royal treatment, have their

formal photos taken, and even win raffle prizes. It gives them a night to put on their best clothes, enjoy the fine

dining of a three-course meal and fabulous entertainment. Then afterwards, everyone lets loose on the dance

floor.

This community event was a huge success again this year. The event had to be moved to the Arena of the Alltel

Center because it has outgrown all other venues. Over 40 businesses and community members have contributed

in some way to make the event a reality. LEEP, MRCI WorkSource, and ISD 77 ACCESS would like to thank the

following businesses, organizations, and individuals for their contributions to Fall Elegance 2012. It takes a whole

community to create such a memorable evening. Thank You!!!

Cassie Martin is the Appel Achievement Award Recipient for the month of October!

Cassie is originally from Lake Crystal, MN and moved to the Mankato area about 15 years ago. She has

been involved in LEEP for 2 years. She really enjoys being involved with Summer Rec. Some of her favorite

LEEP activities are seeing April and scrapbooking. But her all time favorite thing about LEEP is seeing and

making memories with her friends.

When Cassie isn’t involved in LEEP activities, she likes to draw and play with her little sister Maya. When

asked to describe herself in three words Cassie said she was, “outgoing, helpful and nice”. She also

mention if she were ever lucky enough to win a million dollars she would buy a house and have her mom

move in with her.
