Rainbow Street Public School ‘Band Together’ for National Bandanna Day Rainbow Street Public School will show its support of National Bandanna Day on Friday 26 October 2018, when people across Australia show their support for young people living with cancer. Canteen CEO, Peter Orchard, said the goal this year is to sell 270,000 bandannas to help fund CanTeen’s life-changing services for young people trying to cope with a close family member’s cancer or their own.

“Dealing with cancer often leaves young people feeling isolated and alone, which is why we’re urging all Australians to show their support this National Bandanna Day. “The CanTeen bandanna is a powerful symbol of hope, connection and resilience for young people impacted by cancer. We’re so grateful to everyone who buys a bandanna or donates because it allows us to continue supporting and guiding young people when they need it most,” Mr Orchard said. Rainbow Street Public School hopes to raise money to support CanTeen to deliver a range of support services, including specialist treatment, peer support and online and face-to-face counselling. Bandannas will be available to buy from our school SRC on Friday 26 October 2018. SRC leaders will be selling bandannas before school, at recess and lunch time on this day (until sold out). Bandannas cost $5. The SRC appreciates the anticipated support for this worthy cause. For more information, visit www.supportbandannaday.com Mr James Roche SRC Coordinator Multicultural Day 2018 Multicultural Day is a celebration of the many cultures at our school. Bunning’s BBQ This Sunday From Sunday morning ‘til afternoon. If you’re not volunteering, please come. New Bunnings at Eastgardens. If you’d like to make a last-minute pitch at volunteering, please contact our Secretary, Craig, who’s organising: [email protected] Trivia Night Progress Our Executive is making some amazing progress in making this real, especially Isabel and Sally. Ronan, Aiden and Liam’s dad, has mightily beavered away the last several months compiling a list of some of the most challenging questions you’ll ever see … Already I have collected a prize from a donor ready for the night. Still, we need more help. If you’re interested, try [email protected] to volunteer spare time and expertise. Saturday evening, 24 November 2018. Library Friday Starts again next Friday, 26 October 2018, in the school library after drop-off. Join Linh and the other regular parents for tea, bikkies, chat and getting some work done (for the school and our P & C) without the formality of a meeting structure. Next Year Right now is time to consider how to celebrate our new campus come 2019. This year, of course, building work led to logistical challenges that have tested all of us. Despite the focused and enthusiastic work by some of our school parents recently, our annual school disco is not to be, and of course our famous Car Boot Sales had to take a hiatus. No matter who is serving next year in our Executive (President, Vice Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, non office-holding members), it’s up to us as a School Community to make best use of the brand new canvas that will be there for our children, their teachers and us parents. Any ideas? Contribute! Annual General Meeting (AGM) Is the meeting after next, in December. This is when the people who execute the plans that we vote on during the year stand and get elected. Will that be you?

P & C Information Session Presented by the P & C Federation on Tuesday 30 October 2018 in the evening at Randwick Boys’ High School. You need to register by 24 October 2018. http://www.pandc.org.au See you at school. Greg./ Gregory Dodwell President Rainbow St Public School P & C [email protected]

Hospital Redevelopment – From Lendlease You will have noticed more activity in the area that act as important first steps for establishing the site and progressing the new Acute Services Building for the Prince of Wales Hospital. Heavy haulage construction vehicle movements out of site will head in a northerly direction to Alison Road. This change has occurred since we last met and is a result of consultation with Randwick City Council. In addition, our heavy haulage vehicles will no long travel along Rainbow Street from the marshalling area at Rowland Park. Again, a change since we last spoke. We continue to maintain the project website where you can find current project information www.randwickcampusredevelopment.health.nsw.gov.au
