Asthma & Immunology on 02-03-2019 and 03-03-2019 at the “Rash Manch”, Swabhumi, in
collaboration with Allergy & Asthma Treatment Cenrte (a unit of NCD Immunomedicare Pvt.
Ltd.) , The Department of Zoology, and endorsed by Indian Chest University of Calcutta

Allergy and Asthma Research Centre (AARC) at a glance
Allergy and Asthma Research Centre (AARC) is a premier allergy research and treatment centre in Kolkata city dedicated to the cause of allergy and immunology. With a host of renowned scientists and clinicians of international repute catering yeomen service to the suffering populace since its inception in the year 1982. During late 70's, Professor Sachin Chowdhury, a renowned pediatrician along with his fellow friend Dr. (Big.) N. C. Das and handful of young clinicians like Dr. Soma Chatterjee and Dr. Indrani Roy together with Mr. Sailen Debnath as a technical assistance took initiative to start an allergy clinic and this movement is considered to be the beginning of the journey. After a number of shifting, it bloomed and attained a good reputation under the able leadership of Dr. Arijit Das, son of Dr. N.C Das and Late Prof Sunirmal Chanda without whose initiative the AARC could not have attained such a height. The organization aims to offer the available contemporary solutions in a more scientific and rational manner and to provide best possible diagnosis and treatment to those ever increasing problems. The centre and its diagnostic setup has been catering services to vast majority of patients from within the state of West Bengal and adjoining states as well as neighboring Bangladesh for a considerable time period through its head quarters located at Purna Das Road and Rittik Clinic at Moulali and different satellite clinics situated at various location in the state of West Bengal and neighboring states. With the help of its rich infrastructure and manned by vastly experienced and trained clinicians, researchers and technicians the organization is working relentlessly to tackle all sorts of allergic ailments on a more methodological and comprehensive manner. The centre envisages to develop a mode of functioning where experimental work will be extrapolated to patient care and amalgamated with the various reform activities for the society at large.

The establishment of the University of Calcutta in the year 1857 was a commitment towards developing Bengal as a Centre of learning and excellence and its Zoology Department has a rich heritage and glorious past, which was made possible due to the rich contributions of galaxy of eminent academicians during last 100 years of its eventful journey. The Department has produced a number of galaxies, a major portion of them have made their marks in the global arena. The tradition is still continued and the teachers and scholars are working relentlessly for the cause of Zoology.
The Indian Chest Society was formed in the year 1980. A few foresighted respiratory medicine specialists couriered the idea. The lead was taken by Dr. S.R. Kamat, the then Chief of the Department of Chest Medicine at the K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai. The core group involved in the planning and promoting of this society consisted of Dr. P.G. Kamath, Dr. J.C. Kothari and Dr. A.C. Shah from Mumbai, Dr. C.V. Ramakrishnanan from Chennai, Dr. C.N. Deivanayagan from Chennai Dr. K.J.R. Murthy from Hyderabad and Dr. Samir K. Gupta from Kolkata. The office of the society headquarters started functioning from K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai.
