What is the purpose of the research studies?The purpose of the studies is to learn more about the safety of medications, vaccinations, and diseases during pregnancy.

Who conducts the research studies?These research projects are conducted by the Organization of Teratology Information Specialists (OTIS) and are coordinated at the University of California, San Diego, CA.

What you can expect when contacting MotherToBaby…Participation is voluntary and all information collected is kept confidential.

What will I be asked to do?You will be asked to participate in the following:•Onetothreephoneinterviewsduringpregnancy,

and at least one phone interview after delivery.•Releaseofcopiesofmedicalrecordsrelated

to your pregnancy.

Questions will be asked about:•Pregnancyexposurestomedications,

vaccinations, illnesses or other environmental exposures.

•Thedatesduringwhichtheexposureoccurred and the dose or amount of the exposure.

What type of research study?These are observational research studies. “Observational” means that the researchers will follow you through your pregnancy. You will be asked to answer questions over the telephone about your pregnancy, your health history, and the birth of your child; you will not be asked to change anything about your normal health routine or prescribed medical plan if you participate in these studies.

Current Studies Include:•Asthmainpregnancy.•AutoimmunediseasessuchasCrohn’sDisease,

multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis in pregnancy.

•Vaccinesandantiviralmedicationsinpregnancy.
