Plants In Your AquariumMany aquarium hobbyists avoid adding live
plants, believing they are too fragile or too difficult to keep. On the contrary, most live plants are hardy and require very little maintenance if the proper precau-tions are taken. Just like fish, live plants do best when they are kept in an aquarium that suits their needs.
Selecting live plants that share common water pa-rameters will make it easier for you to maintain ideal water conditions. The three main aspects to consider are pH, water hardness, and water temperature. Provide the right lighting conditions, or select plants that are suited to your current lighting conditions. A planted aquarium should receive at least 10 to 12 hours of light per day. Your aquatic pet professional can help you make the right choices in designing your perfect planted aquarium.

Roxy Hello friends,My name is Roxy, perhaps short for
Roxanne. I lived my whole life with one older person and alas, due to un-fortunate circumstance, had to come to MHS. My legs get stiff from time to time so I’m not a big jumper, and like a nice cushy bed on the floor. I’m not afraid to let you know when I’m ready for a nap and I can sometimes be an attention hog, reaching out for your hand when I really want an ear scratch – but please don’t touch my belly. I really can be a sweet old lady that just wants an understanding part-ner in a calm and quiet home.
Roxy is a 15-year-old DSH grey spayed female.
Visit Roxy or the other great pets for adoption at the Adoption Center located at 101 West Swanzey Road just outside of Keene on Route 10 South. Busi-ness hours are Wednesdays through Fridays from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are many homeless animals at MHS that need loving forever homes. For more details, contact them online at www.monadnockhu-manesociety.org or call 603-352-9011, Ext. 101.
