They will also accept clothing that is notacceptable under the schools dress code, for stu-dents who may need clothing to wear at home oron weekends. Jeans must be free of embellish-ments. Sagging pants are not permitted. • Dresses – Dresses must follow the guidelinesfor both tops and bottoms. • Hoodies/Sweaters – Must follow the guide-lines for tops. • Formal wear/Dresses – Both mens and wom-ens are needed for special events likeHomecoming, Prom, etc. • Undergarments – These must be purchasednew and in their original wrappers. • Toiletries - These must be purchased new andin their original wrappers. The Benbrook City Council held a regularmeeting on Thursday, March 1. Minutes from theprevious meeting on Feb. 15 were approved. The EDC gave a presentation on a commercialcontract for sale to purchase property located at8909 Benbrook Blvd. for the purpose of redevel-opment. The property is currently operating as aself-storage facility. In September 2017, the EDC incentivized arestaurant at this location with the intended pur-chaser, Laramie Investments, LLC. Laramie wasunable to secure a restaurant tenant and backed outof the sale. The EDC has negotiated a sale price of$1,200,000 and will prepare the site to attractpotential development, including demolition ofthe metal buildings and site cleanup. Councilapproved the purchase. Council adopted an ordinance approving anannual rate review mechanism tariff filed byAtmos Mid-Tex. The RRM Tariff on which the 2017 rates werebased allowed a rate of return on equity of 10.50percent. The revised RRM Tariff reduces that to9.8 percent. The revised RRM Tariff also captures thereduction in federal income tax rates from 35 per-cent to 21 percent, and should result in a ratereduction effective by mid- March 2018. In December 2007, City Council adoptedResolution No. 2007-16 accepting the Joint LandUse Study Report (JLUS) for the Naval AirStation Joint Reserve Base (NAS-JRB) and sup-porting related community initiatives. In 2016, the North Central Texas Council ofGovernments (NCTCOG), with a grant from theDepartment of Defense Office of EconomicAdjustment, retained a consultant (AECOM) toprepare an update of the JLUS. Council adopted aresolution supporting the NAS Fort Worth Joining Forces Land Use Study.

He served in theUnited States Air Force with two tours of duty in Vietnam.He graduated from Texas Christian University in 1975 witha Bachelor of Arts and Master's degree. He retired fromRoadway Express in 2008. Bill loved babysitting with his four grandchildren. Henever missed one of their ballgames and cheered them onloudly from the stands. He loved his three Shih Tzus;Frankie, Louie and Chloe. They were his “babies.” He alsoenjoyed playing golf, tennis, reading and watching TCUfootball games and the Texas Rangers. Bill was a caring husband, father, father-in-law, grand-father, brother and uncle. He had a wide circle of friends andgolfing “buddies.” Bill will be greatly missed by all whoknew him. Agape West Christian Women’s Job Corps offers free training for women inTarrant County. Each year in Texas, more than half of drivers involved in deadly drunk drivingcrashes are between the ages of 17 and 34. With many college students and youngadults heading to spring break destinations in the coming weeks, the TexasDepartment of Transportation’s “Plan While You Can” campaign reminds them tomake a sober ride part of their festivities. “Enjoy spring break, but do so responsibly,” said TxDOT Executive DirectorJames Bass. “If you drink and drive, you run the very real risk of being killed ordestroying your future and the lives of others. It’s irresponsible and just not worthit.” During last year’s spring break in Texas, calculated between March 10 and 19,there were 410 crashes involving young drivers who were driving under the influ-ence of alcohol. Those crashes killed 20 people and seriously injured another 48. The “Plan While You Can” campaign includes a statewide tour featuring aninteractive dodgeball game where participants try to avoid incoming “beach balls”as virtual drinks are added to the screen. As more drinks are added, participantsexperience how drinking can slow their reaction times as on-screen avatars beginresponding more slowly to their players’ movements. The experience will visit eightTexas cities during March. While drivers under the influence of alcohol risk killing or seriously injuringthemselves or others, they also face up to $17,000 in fines and fees, jail time andloss of their driver’s license. Any or all bids will be rejected if City has reason to believe that collusion exists among theBidders, Bidder is an interested party to any litigation against City, City or Bidder may havea claim against the other or be engaged in litigation, Bidder is in arrears on any existing con-tract or has defaulted on a previous contract, Bidder has performed a prior contract in anunsatisfactory manner, or Bidder has uncompleted work which in the judgment of the Citywill prevent or hinder the prompt completion of additional work if awarded. The meeting begins at 9 a.m. at the Benbrook Senior Citizens building, locatedat 1010 Mercedes St.

The presentation will cover information on challenges of all bee species, factsabout the lifestyle of gentle solitary bees, and photo examples of the many beautifulforms and colors of native bees.

Tips will be offered on how to attract native bees, provide nest sites and evenhow to participate in citizen science tracking efforts.

Bill Freiheit is a recognized expert on Texas native plants in the North CentralTexas region, having co-founded the Friends of the Lewisville Lake EnvironmentalLearning Area, a 2,500-acre Corps of Engineers property being restored as awildlife area.

His efforts have produced tens of thousands of plants for environmentalrestoration and advanced education. Bill’s self-proclaimed mission is “to save theworld, one flower at a time.”

The spring Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Event inBenbrook is scheduled for Saturday, March 10 at Dutch Branch ParkComplex, off Winscott Road, in the rear parking lot behind Par 3 Golf (fol-low signs) from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Bring proof of Benbrook residency (water bill or driver’s license), andstaff will be on-site to direct traffic and assist in unloading items from vehi-cles. Please drive slowly as you enter the drop-off location.

Due to space constraints, paint drop-off is limited to 30 gallons per resi-dent. Empty or dried-out paint containers can be disposed of in householdtrash. We do not accept pharmaceuticals (old medicine) at this event.

Acceptable items for HHW disposal include: • acids • aerosol cans •antifreeze • brake fluid • craft and hobby materials • degreasers • drain clean-ers • fertilizer and herbicides • household chemicals • light bulbs • motor oiland oil filters • paint, stains and paint thinners • pesticides • photo chemicals• pool chemicals • solvents • transmission fluid • varnishes
