7 Questions Realtors in Victoria Should Ask About Their Website April 18, 2015
Does your website look like the cover of a cheesy romance novel?
Your website was built a few years ago at the same place all the other realtors went. Now you’re left with site that doesn’t
reflect your current lifestyle or the modern-contemporary homes you represent.
Do you claim your website as an asset to your business in a listing meeting? Are your listings
easily viewed with large icons and text?
Ninety per cent of buyers do online research before making a significant purchase, so they’re looking at your website more than
your business card. What are they seeing when they get there? A modern-contemporary design that reflects their new home or condo? Is it easy to navigate? Does it provide your customers with the same service and experience you deliver in person?
Is it mobile friendly?
Sixty-five per cent of online traffic comes from mobile devices, and Google is about to make a big change to their search engine
that will heavily penalize websites that aren’t mobile friendly. Don’t risk thousands of dollars in business. Check to see f your
website is mobile friendly.
Does it have large easy-to-view photos?
This is a must. Nothing is more frustrating than a tiny photo viewer. Every client wants to see large high resolution photos when
they visit your website that are easy to download and share with friends and family.
Do you have a blog or news page on your website?
Show your potential clients that you’re up-to-date and knowledgeable on your local market by telling them. Regularly update a
blog or a news page with insight on your marketplace, photos, testimonials of happy clients, local events, restaurants, and
recreation.
Are you social?
Facebook’s advertising service will let you target potential clients and put your listing right in front of them for just a few
bucks. Your photos, info, and listings should be the same or similar through all your social channels. Your possible clients are
probably trying to find you on social media right now, so if you don’t have a presence you’re missing out.
Consider this: A client or friend recommends you to someone who already has another realtor in mind but they’re willing to
give you a look. They search for your business page on Facebook but instead of finding up-to-date social activity and insight
into your real estate world, they find nothing. Then they move on to your out-dated website. Based on this experience, they
probably won’t contact you.
