School Magazine Music Magazine

Throughout the whole construction of my music magazine I have learnt that with the different type of magazine, require different sell lines to attract to the target market

I have also had greater experience with Photoshop and as you can see my cutting skills have improved from the school magazine construction

I also use the social media sites to create more awareness for my magazine. The school magazine wouldn’t necessarily need one since its mainly for the school community. But it is mainly more important for the music magazine since it will be sold to a more national scale

Also when constructing my music magazine, it would be sold and since this is the case I have added a barcode. Whilst the school magazine would be free and I advertised it to be free with the use of the button

I have also learnt the composition of my cover artist. My school magazine focuses on the student himself and as so I have used a long shot to capture my models whole body and his environment. As for the music magazine I have used a mid-close up shot as the main focus of my music magazine is the cover artist himself

CONTENTS PAGE

As you can see my contents page for my school magazine lacks a conventional structure e.g. layout based on columns. However my music magazine has more distinct columns

I have also learnt about scaling the picture. As you can see in my music magazine, my model looks stretched and it ruins the quality of the image. Whereas in my music magazine images aren’t stretched but they are resized appropriately

The Journey

Looking back at the journey from the preliminary sketches to the final product, I have learnt that no one design is wrong. All sketches are important in constructing the main design. The school magazine was definitely a warm up to the music task as most of the aspects are the same.

I have learnt what it takes to design and create a magazine under pressurised conditions e.g. deadlines. The fact the magazine industry probably have to create magazines on a more frequent basis shows that they have to be on top of their game throughout the whole process.
