We are dry and could use some rain. The small grain is turning. We sprayed the third crop hay 10 days ago and its bouncing back really well. Most of the corn is 6 feet tall and some is up to 8 feet. The soybeans are looking better since the effects of the spray have depreciated. We have baled 2,000 small square bales of grass hay. We did 1,000 three weeks ago and another 1,000 last week. Most of the guys around here are working on ditch hay.

DON SCHELSKE60 cows, 520 acres

The crops look good, but an inch of rain would do us a lot of good. Everything looks really good. The corn is waist to shoulder high. We are planning to plant Sedan grass on one 27-acre eld of old alfalfa. Up next, we plan to start on second cutting hay. We did the new seeding alfalfa last week. The people that planted winter wheat are ready to harvest.

It started raining tonight (July 5) about 7:30 and was really windy and we had a little hail. We were sitting pretty good with moisture. We will cut third crop hay next week. The corn should be tasseling within the next 10 days. I had to spot spray soybeans for Water Hemp with Touchdown and Cadet. We baled 250 4- by-6-foot round bales of grass hay. We also did our oatlage; it was excellent. We have lots of feed.

It started raining here about a half hour ago (9:30 p.m.). The lawns are turning a little brown, but the crops look good. Last week I nished cultivating my organic corn, it stand about waist high. The conventional corn is shoulder high. I just nished my second pass of cultivating my soybeans. We round baled 60 bales and small squared 1,100 bales of second crop hay today. We will cut the rest after Thursday. The oats looks good and are starting to turn.

We are really dry. The second crop hay hasnt taken off and some of the corn is starting to roll up and the grass is turning brown. We nished up rst crop hay and did pretty good considering how much moisture we had. We made oatlage. We cut on July 1 and we baled it on July 4. The corn is knee to waist high. A guy near Menahga was doing his triticale and peas.

The corn is all at and we dont have any power after the storm that went through tonight (July 5). The corn was doing good except for the lower area in the eld. It stood about 6 feet tall. My crop guy said he will take a look at it tomorrow. The wheat is turning pretty good. We will be cutting third crop alfalfa on the 25th; otherwise weve been making meadow hay.
