PRE-COURSE INSTRUCTIONS AND ENTRYREQUIREMENTS- SpanSet Module 1 (1 Day duration for modules 1
and 7).- No Previous Experience Required
OVERVIEWThis module is designed as an enhancement toModule 1 giving greater detail on the inspection ofheight safety equipment.- The course is intended for those employees who
are required to carry out thorough examination ofharnesses and lanyards as a nominated competentperson.
- The delegate will have an insight into the design,testing and manufacturing processes, as well aspractical activities involving inspection and testingof damaged equipment.
- Further details of the training facilities, first aidprovision, insurance, etc are available upon writtenrequest.
COURSE SYLLABUS
Theory
- Understand the importance of trace-ability for allheight safety equipment
- Understand the information required to completeinspection records
- Understand the effects of continual degradationof equipment and when it must be withdrawnfrom service
- Understand the importance of correct quarantineand disposal procedures
- Understand the processes for investigating theeffects of contaminants and the details requiredfor returning them to service.
- Understand the design and testing procedures forheight safety equipment
Practical- Be able to inspect / thoroughly examine
harnesses and lanyards for signs of continualdegradation and fatal flaws
- Be able to record the findings of their inspections/ examination
ASSESSMENT METHODSDetails of written assessmentsThroughout the course the delegates will havecompleted a logging system for a range ofequipment, this will be assessed by the trainer andSpanSet will retain this as an example for ourrecords. Details of other assessment methodsDuring the course of the day the candidates will becontinually verbally assessed by the trainer usingworking examples and scenarios to determine thedelegates understanding of a specific topic. In addition to the test carried out in module 1 alldelegates will be monitored by the trainerthroughout the practical sessions. Any concerns willbe addressed by delegate and trainer on a continualbasis. The trainer will use practical tasks to assess thedelegates competence and understanding.
EQUIPMENT COVERED DURING TRAINING- Example equipment that has been exposed to
continual degradation, including harnesses andlanyards.
- Example harness web samples that has fatalflaws
- Design / Production test samples
FEEDBACK TO CLIENT AFTER COURSE- Photo ID card for all delegates, valid for three
years.- Certificate for all delegates, valid for three years.
RECORDS TO BE MAINTAINED BY SPANSET- Course registration sheet, including results of the
assessment.- Digital photo for duplicate issue of ID cards.- Course feedback forms where completed.
Competent Person PracticalInspection and Record Keepingcontinued.
COURSE JOININGINSTRUCTIONSCOURSE ASSEMBLYUnless otherwise stated, all courses are held atSpanSet (UK) Limited and will assemble at0900 hrs daily. Delegates should report to themain training reception upon arrival.
EQUIPMENT & CLOTHINGAll equipment required throughout the coursewill be provided by SpanSet Ltd.Candidates should provide their owncomfortable clothing and footwear, withprovision made for inclement weatherconditions, i.e. fleeces, waterproofs, windproof,etc.
FOOD & REFRESHMENTRefreshments will be provided throughout theday on all courses.A lunch will be provided on all courses of a dayor more in duration held at SpanSet.
