Production Reflection
Will Stewart
Process• At the very start of the production
process, I prefer to design a layout with finer details than what could be available on a computer. So, I use simple pencil and paper tools for the design, my hand having a far better measure of control over what I produce than a mouse or keyboard. I specifically used a clean A4 sheet of paper, and politely asked one of my classmates to provide me with the drawing pencils that I required.
Process• Secondly, I used by College login to
scan my design onto the system using a printing machine. I do this because it allows me to refine the design within programs such as Photoshop, granting me greater focus and control over what I have.
Process• Within Photoshop, the primary tools I
used were the Polygonal Lasso Tool and the Brush Tool. I used the lasso to create a fence around whatever area was specified by the pencil design, and used the brush to fill the fence in with whatever colour I had decided to select. This took up the bulk of the production process, filling in every area taking an exorbitantly long amount of time.
Process• The final phase of my production
process was the refinement of the colour design. When the colouring segment had been completed, I went back over the design and filled in as many open white spaces as I could find. While this did add an even greater length of time devoted to the production, I believe I made the correct decision, increasing the project’s overall quality.
Process• Overall, I believe that I did the best
that I could with the time I was provided with, completing my project with a satisfactory amount of success. While there are definitely elements that could use improvement, such as the linework that divides the various colour areas, I am happy with the result.
