If I was the President… The current President

A-Analyze Learners

o The age range of students in my class is 10-11. o 12 students are female; the other 8 students are male. o The students are in 5th grade. o 2 students in my class have ADHD.

S-State Objectives

o Students will describe the current president and tell what they would do if they were president. Students will be presented with a video talking about the current president. We will have a class discussion about Barack Obama. Next we will discuss what they would do if they were president and the student will get in groups and brainstorm about what they would do if they were President. At the end of this lesson the students will know about the president with 80% accuracy.

S-Select Methods, Media, & Materials

o The students will watch a video on the current president. They will discuss what it means to be president and the roles Barack Obama holds and goals he has achieved. They will then get into groups and make a list of what they would do if they were president.

U-Utilize Media & Materials

o Students will first watch a video on Youtube. Next the students will participate in a class discussion. Finally the students will make a list of what they would do if they were president.

R-Require Learner Participation

o Students will be required to participate in classroom discussion. They will then be required to list what they would do if they were president. They will present to the class their ideas on what they think would be good roles of their presidency.

E-Evaluate & Revise

o At the end of this lesson the students will be able to tell me about Barack Obama and the things he has done while in office. The students will also create a list describing what they would do if they were president and why they would do that.
