Air vent control. When driving, engine management keeps you continuallyup to date with the

engines cooling capacity requirements, rendering a permanent airstream through the cooler

unnecessary. The air intakes upstream of the cooler open and shut depending on the driving and

the outside temperature. When theyre shut theyimprove aerodynamics, shorten the engines

warm-up time and so reduce fuel consumption.

Tyres with reduced rolling-resistance. While the car is in motion, the tyres are constantly

changing shape, using up energy and fuel. Tyres with reduced rolling-resistance have an

improved design and use special materials for their road treads and side wall s, which reduces

deformation.

Brake Energy Regeneration. To supply the battery with electrical energy the generator is

continuouslydriven using engine power, which consumes more fuel. Brake EnergyRegeneration

means that the generator usually only generates electricity when the driver brakes or takes

theirfoot off the accelerator previouslyunused kinetic energyis transformed in coasting mode

into electrical energy before being fed into the battery. This fuel-free charging process is

indicated by a symbol on the rev counter (page ).

BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. BMW TwinPower Turbo combines the latest injection

technologies for enhanced efficiency with fully variable power distribution featuring innovative

turbocharging technology for a more dynamic ride.

Eight-speed automatic transmission. The particularly smooth gear shifts of the eight-speed

automatic transmission produce greaterengine efficiencyat everyspeed. The result: a reduction

Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function. Optional, foradded convenience and active safetyin stop-and-go traffic. The

system measures the gap to the vehicle ahead on an ongoing basis and automatically maintains an appropriate distance. Once

the lane ahead becomes free, the system accelerates again up to the d esired speed.

Park Assistant. This optional driver assistance system makes parallel parking easier. When travelling at speeds below km/h,

the system measures anyparking gaps the vehicle passes. When a big enough gap has been found, the Park Assistant will do the

steering, while the drivercontinues to operate the acceleratorand brake pedals supported byacoustic signals and i nstructions

in the Control Display.

Park Distance, Surround View, RearView camera. These optional systems enhance visibilityof the area around the vehicle

when manoeuvring. Park Distance Control (PDC) provides visual and acoustic warnings to make parking easier and safer. Surround

View presents an image ofthe BMW as seen from above in the Control Display. The Side View system included in this equipment

option ensures bettervisibilitywhen joining a main road from a side street orexit. The RearView camera enhances visibility when

to the optional mobile phone preparation with Bluetooth interface in conjunction with a navigation system and the intelligent

integration ofselected business mobile phones, you can use the Bluetooth connection to show Office functions such as emails,

appointments, tasks. contacts and SMS messages on the Control Displaywhile on the move, or have them read outaloud to you via

the audio speakers, using the text-to-speech function. And thanks to Bluetooth Audio Streaming, wireless playback ofmusic via

selected Bluetooth-enabled devices is not a problem.

AUPEO! personal internet radio. With the Apps option, an i Phone and the free personal radio app AUPEO! you only hear what

you want to hear. AUPEO! allows you to access a music library containing around one million tracks from genres.

BMW Connected App. For the first time, you can now use apps i n your BMW. With the Apps option, an iPhone and the free

BMW Connected App from the Apple App Store, youre no longer limited to just listening to local radio, your calendar i s with you

all the time and youre always in contact with your friends. Using iDrive, you can easily select web radio stations from around the

world. You can also call up the latest status reports from your Facebook or Twitter accounts and view upc oming appointments on

the Control Display, or even have them read to you through the audi o systems speakers. New features include RSS feeds for

news and Wiki Local, which allows you to source Wikipedia information on your local area.

Internet preparation. Whether you need to check the balance in your bank account, place a bid on eBay or look something up

in Wikipedia, the BMW ConnectedDrive internet option ensures that you can do whatever you need to do online. To enable you

Full-colourBMW Head-Up Display. With this option, relevant driving information is projected directlyin the drivers field of vision

More colours now make it easierto differentiate between general driving information, such as speed limits, and urgent warnings

such as pedestrians on the road (optional with BMW Night Vision). This helps the driverto concentrate on the road ahead, making

BMW Night Vision with Pedestrian Recognition and Acute Warning.An optional infrared camera in the double kidneygrille

detects people and animals up to a distance of metres and its images are shown on the Control Display. Pedestrian

Recognition also gives a visual warning to i ndicate if people are moving close to the road up to a distance of metres ahead.

This means that the driver can recognise potential danger significantly earlier and react more quickly. The new Acute Warning

system helps in imminentlycritical situations, thereby offering even greater safety.

Lane Departure Warning system and Lane Change Warning system (both optional).At speeds above around km/h, the

Lane Departure Warning system registers lane markings. If the vehicle threatens to swerve out of its lane, the system warns the

driver through a slight vibration of the steering wheel. If the driver has activated the indicator meaning that the lane change is

intentional the warning is suppressed. Bymeans o f a visible alert in the exterior mirror, the Lane Change Warning system

warns the driver of a vehicle in the blind spot or approaching at speed.

Multifunctional Instrument Display. This optional system offers a unique visual representation ofdriving your BMW along with

increased safety. Forthe first time, the Driving Experience button can be used to select driving modes, with their tailored colour

coding and graphics, in the instrument panel. Comfort mode is the default display, ECO PRO accentuates economical driving and

Sport emphasises dynamism with new speed and rpm displays. This new digital presentation enhances safety, comfort and the

overall driving experience byproviding clearfocus increasing, for instance, magnification on specific information.
