THANK YOU, ALYX! Alyx Kopie, our Youth Ministry Assistant Coordinator of three years, is leaving her position. She has been instrumental in the formation and activity of our Youth Council, has offered a consistent ministry of presence with many of our middle school and high school youth and has encouraged our many small group leaders to see
the benefits of this experience, and has spear-headed and developed a flourishing social media ministry for our youth. She will certainly be missed! She will be moving on to put more focus on the needs of her existing and growing Pink Heart Rescue for blind and deaf dogs. We wish her many blessings and welcome her desire to continue volunteering for Youth Ministry as a small group leader.
Prayer for our Military
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the self-less acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this

RECEPTION FOLLOWS WITH VICE ADMIRAL P. STEPHEN STANLEY, USN (RET) ON THE CAUSE FOR THE CANONIZATION OF SERVANT OF GOD
FATHER VINCENT CAPODANNO Vincent Robert Capodanno was born on February 13, 1929, in Staten Island, New York, the tenth child of Italian immigrants. His father was killed in a work-related accident on Vincent’s tenth birthday. By 1949, he discerned a desire to serve as a Priest and entered the seminary of the Catholic Foreign Mission Society, the Maryknolls. Ordained in 1958, Father Capodanno was sent to Taiwan to minister to the indigenous Hakka people of the island. Assigned to Hong Kong, he saw our young military men during their port calls and sought permission to join the Navy Chaplain Corps intending to serve the increasing number of Marine troops in Vietnam. During Holy Week of 1966, Father Capodanno reported to the 7th Marines in Vietnam.
It was during his voluntary second tour on September 4, 1967, with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, that Father Vincent Capodanno made the ultimate sacrifice. After hours of heavy fighting, Father Capodanno, already seriously injured, sighted a wounded corpsman pinned down by machine gun fire. Unarmed, he ran to the Marine medic and was also hit by the machine gunner. Father Capodanno, the victim of 27 bullet wounds, died faithfully performing his final act as a good and faithful servant of God.

VOCATIONS MINISTRY Did You Know? (Sponsored by the Saints Francis & Clare of Assisi Vocation Ministry)
1. Did you know?...we not only honor Mary in the month of May, but in the Church Calendar on each Saturday the Blessed Mother is honored liturgically in the morning Mass and in the Office of Readings. Not long after the Resurrection and the early days of the Church, honor-ing Mary began on each Saturday. As Sunday was the Lord’s Day, Saturday soon became Mary’s day.
2. Did you know?... Our Lady made a major request at Fatima with the Devotion of the Five First Saturdays. On five consecutive first Saturdays of the month, one should: a. Have the intention of consoling the Immaculate Heart in a spirit of
reparation. b. Go to confession (within eight days before or after the first Saturday). c. Receive Holy Communion. d. Say five decades of the Holy Rosary. e. Meditate for 15 minutes on the mysteries.
