During our Café Night last Sunday, we gathered together with our brothers and sister in the Christian faith to celebrate our belief in Christ Jesus, our Lord. It was a touching experience for me to see all the people and the kids coming together, sharing food and thoughts, doing crafts, singing and worship-ing together as one Body of Christ. Pastor Andrew Rickel of Trinity Lutheran and Sandra Gibson of Moreland Presbyterian, with a couple of their members, came to represent their com-munity in our gathering. It was a spirit-filled ecumenical evening of worship and fellow-ship. Out of our conversations and dialogue, there was a sug-gestion of doing this ecumenical service together a couple of times during the year to strengthen our bond as a Christian community here in South East Portland. Our Vacation Bible School (VBS) during the summer, already has participation by these churches and could be the catalyst to continue that ex-perience throughout the year. I hope that this will come into fruition. This weekend we also have our 3
rd Annual Raise a Glass
Wine Tasting Event. It’s always been successful and people have a fun and good experience with our community. Along with our other community events such as Oktoberfest and the Mass on the Grass, Liz Goodell, our Event Coordinator, has led us in making sure that these opportunities that bring our
community together happen. We are very thankful and grate-ful to her for her leadership and hard work which make these events successful. Starting this second week of February, Liz will be stepping down in her paid position as Event Coordinator but will contin-ue in a volunteer capacity as a consultant for our two major fundraising events: Oktoberfest and the Wine Tasting. She will assist volunteer coordinators in the planning an executing of these events. We are very blessed to have Liz in our community for her dedication, generosity and commitment to our Holy Family. Please don’t forget to let her know personally our deep appreciation. Fr. Rodel
Thank you for your generosity this past year.
Tax Statements are now available in the vestibule of church. Any unclaimed envelopes
will be mailed February 8th.
