Tips to translate

The most important thing is the translation texts must have the same meaning as the source texts.

Do not get restricted by the language patterns.

Be aware of register (i.e. vocabulary selection, grammatical feature).

Emulate the style of the author (good translator maintain the style of the original author).

Read – fix – read again – fix again until you find the translation nearest to perfect.

 Don’t give up!!!

The National Assembly (Parliament) now had 65 members in all, i.e.

53 directly elected members, 10 members from the regional councils

and 2 members from NCLDO.

The Parliament now had the power to amend the constitution by a

simple two thirds majority, and without the need for a referendum.

The Value Conflict Approach

The value conflict approach notes that every problem involves a value

judgment – a judgment that a situation is bad. Also, every proposed solution

involves value judgments upon the goal to be sought and the acceptable

means to be used. For example, gambling is a social problem only if there is a

value judgment defining gambling as bad; otherwise it is a harmless pastime.

A perfectly integrated society would have no social problems, because its

social conditions and its values would be in harmony; that is, the values of the

society would approve the existing institutions and arrangements. But in a

changing society, value conflicts arise.

In order to provide an adequate classification of a domain it is mandatory first

of all to obtain a comprehensive definition of the domain. Here one encounters

the first problem: there is no universally accepted definition of the hospitality

industry. The hospitality industry has in fact greatly expanded in recent years.

It is probably best to search for the most appropriate definitions in textbooks

for university students, as these usually provide the most concise and

comprehensive explanations.
