We begin the year 2020. Someone reminded me that we hope our vision is 20/20! St. Clare of Assisi, follower of Francis and foundress of the Poor Clares, told us to “Gaze upon the Lord.” Another Poor Clare, Sr. Briege O’Hare, wrote a hymn that went this way. “Gaze upon the Lord, gaze upon his face, gaze upon the one Who holds you in his embrace. Gaze upon his love, gaze upon his coming poor from heaven above.” As we fall on our knees in prayer each day, let us gaze upon the Lord with 20/20 vision of our hearts and souls and greet each day as a gift from our God of extravagant love!
