Simulator game mode features all nuances of real-life car driving, which incombination with realistic damage pattern significantly increases gamecomplexity.Arcade is an ‘easy game’ mode that provides for partial load damagepattern, increased car maneuverability and easier gear shifting. Goingdeeper into the details the following distinctions can be pointed out:1) Operation of gearbox in Arcade and Simulator modes. In Arcade mode if automatic gearbox option is on you can shift all gearswithout limitations. If you choose manual gearbox gearing down is

performed by clutch. In case of simulator mode and automatic gearbox thegear selection is free and gearing down is possible only from mid-gear. If manual gearbox is chosen selection of all gears is performed only by clutch.Gearing down is possible only from the mid-gear.

2) Arcade mode also has the following distinctions:- car’s durability is 3 times higher- lower car’s weight- stronger lower gear effect- simplified mud physics- wear does not influence car’s performance characteristics- car is controlled in the air (for some time)

6. ChampionshipChampionship is a ‘career-type’ game mode where you participate ininternational Off-road competitions. To win you need to compete in racesfor prize-winning places thus scoring Rating Points and opening new racesin five different regions of the world. The championship is over after you win the final race of the game. Bear inmind that if you complete first-place races, final race may becomeavailable without progress through all races of the game.

You can progress through Championship tracks an unlimited number oftimes. Note that Rating Points awarded for prize-winning places are limitedwhile Bonus Points and Money rewards are not. Thus if you progressthrough a race another time you can get Bonus Points required to makeavailable new tuning details and cars in the Garage as well as Money youneed to buy them.

7. Single race‘Single race’ mode is represented in the game by two submodes. In ’Quickrace’ you drive an arbitrary car from your garage on one of randomlyselected tracks. In ‘Quick race’ mode it is enough to click ‘Start’ button to begin one ofspecified races from those already open in the Championship mode. If thecurrently selected race does not seem suitable you can click ‘Generation’to randomly select a current race and a car from your Garage.

‘My race’ mode offers a possibility to choose one of the eight availablerace types and a track suitable for this race type. Available tracks aretracks open in Championship mode.

Note! In ‘Single race’ mode car damage received during the race as wellas bonus points are cancelled once the race is over. Money and RatingPoints available in Championship do not exist in Single Race.

8. Race types

The game features 6 types of assignments that are distinguished bydescriptions – Trial, Trophy, Sprint, Night Sprint, Orientation, NightOrientation - and their respective individual icons.

1) TrialTrialTrialTrialTrial rules provide for a strictly limited penalty system applied to passingthrough Special Sections.Penalty system for fouls within ‘Special Sections’:

1 point for a stop longer than 15 seconds.3 points for moving backwards followed by moving forward.8 points for breaking bands20 points for each instance of moving in a wrong direction or knockingdown signposts.40 points for going beyond limits of ‘Special Section’.60 points for changing direction more than 6 times within limits of a‘Special Section’ restricted by ‘gates’.100 points for returning to the track.

300 points for missing a ‘Special Section’.

2) TrophyTrophyTrophyTrophy- ---raidraidraidraidTrophy is one of the most interesting and difficult off-road races. Your taskis not only to overtake your rival but also to pass through all CPs(checkpoints) on the track. Only passing through checkpoints guarantees asuccessful finish in a race. To pass a checkpoint you can choose one of thetwo ways:The easy way is through RP (recon points) marked on GPS screen by green, yellow and red.The hard way is through SSs (special sections) marked on GPS by orangesections. Passing through a special section you don’t only get more bonuspoints than on a route that goes through CPs but also gain bonus time thatimproves your chances to win the race.Your choice is simple. If you are confident of yourself and your car is readyfor a hard off-road raid you’d better drive through Special Sections. If youroff-road vehicle is not ready for serious challenges on Special Sections it’sbetter to go through checkpoints. The race result depends on the choice of route and your skills.

3) Off Off Off Off----road sprintroad sprintroad sprintroad sprintSprint-type race consists of two laps: qualification and competition againstrivals. Qualification race serves to determine your start position for the

second lap. At the same time you can use this lap for preliminaryfamiliarization with the track. Qualification is not obligatory if you areconfident of your strength you can pass to competition against rivals fromthe very beginning. However, in that case your start position will be less

advantageous than that of your rivals. As for the second lap your task is toovertake your rivals and reach the finish line first. Each sprint track has anumber of CPs (checkpoints). If you miss at least one of them during therace your result will not be scored up at the finish line. It’s important to keep up to the track marked by milestones with green andred stripes. The milestones always come in pairs and form gates with theleft wing being green and the right being red. Mind that you should enterthe gate to the left of the red milestone and to the right of the green one!

4) Night sprintNight sprintNight sprintNight sprintNight sprint is a bonus race type. These tracks are not obligatory forpassing. No rating points are awarded for them and hence they don’tinfluence opening new tracks and regions. However, for winning in suchraces you are awarded bonus points and money rewards for prize-winningplaces you take.

5) OrientationOrientationOrientationOrientationYour task in Orientation type races is finding and passing through CPs(Checkpoints) within minimal laps of time. CPs are marked by green pointson your GPS screen as well as by ‘gates’ made of tires and balloons hanging

over them located in respective sections of the track.

6) Night OrientationNight OrientationNight OrientationNight OrientationNight orientation is complicated by limited visibility as illumination is lowerthan in daytime. Otherwise rules and tasks of that race type are similar toordinary Orientation.

9. TuningThere are three different groups of tuning in the game:

• Exterior tuning• Interior tuning• Wheels

Exterior tuningExterior tuningExterior tuningExterior tuning group enables players to install separate accessories likebumpers, sills, winches, headlight shielding etc. on the car.

Interior tuningInterior tuningInterior tuningInterior tuning group serves to improve car parameters by replacing internaldetails like engines, gearboxes, shock absorbers etc.

Wheels group enables players to match the optimal combination of tires, wheel disks and beadlocks.

You should also bear in mind that every part has its advantages anddownsides and enables you to tune the car in order to match your divingstyle, i.e. with a focus on the highest possible speed, dynamics, ormaximum passing ability; or maximum car’s security. You can also tuneyour car to suit a specific track. For example, a ‘sprint’ race requires a morespeed-focused tuning while a ‘trial’ tuning should target higher passing

ability.

13. SoundtrackYou can upload your music to the game. To do so you can upload yourplay list in Soundtrack settings sections. Only play lists in Winamp format(*.m3u) are supported.

14. Game performance

If game frame rate is too low you can reduce quality of video or audiosettings to correct the situation. Also one of the operations below may be helpful:

– Try to disable ‘Rut generation’ settings option and set the lowest possibleparameter in ‘Map objects’ line. Thus you will be able to significantlyincrease frame rate. - Check if the latest driver versions for sound card, motherboard and videoboard are installed.- Try to disable Soundtrack in Audio settings. - Try to change Antialiasing parameters in Video settings.

Resolving known problems

Problem: Application stop error occurs during the game. After that an oldprofile stops to work.Solution: Run Kaspersky Anti-Virus or add protect.exe and 4x4game.exefiles as ‘authorized’ to the antivirus software program.Problem: When you start the game a message on display frequency problemappears and the game screen turns black.Solution 1: Check display settings to see what frequencies are supported by

the display. If supported frequency is 75Hz and the current setting is 60Hz,set 75Hz as default. In the same section in video card settings check if ‘Autodetection’ is on in ‘synchronizing display mode’ (Windowsautomatically detects the correct mode).Solution 2: Open ‘VideoSettings.scr’ file in any text editor and correct theline MaxRefresh(85)to MaxRefresh(75)The file is stored (by default) С:\program files\1c\HUMMER\Data.
