FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK ...

OCTOBER 7, 2018 27TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY T IME

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This week Father Winkel and I will join the priests from

our Diocese for a special convocation with Bishop Perez.

We will be away from the parish from Tuesday afternoon

until Friday at noon. During our absence Deacon Chordas

will conduct the Liturgy of the Word followed by the

Distribution of Holy Communion during our normal

weekday Mass times. These services are not Mass and

therefore there are no “Mass Intentions” listed for the

services which will be at 6:45 and 12:10 on Wednesday

and Thursday and at 6:45 on Friday. I will have the 12:10

Mass on Friday where we will begin our 40 Hours. Please

keep Bishop Perez and all of the priests of the Diocese in

your prayers during this time. Please be assured of our

prayers for you.

Speaking of 40 Hours, please be sure to

schedule a Holy Hour with our Blessed

Lord. The church will be open 24 hours a

day on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday

until the Solemn Closing at 6 p.m. Please

come and spend some quality prayer time.

Sign-up sheets are located outside the

Blessed Sacrament Chapel, or call the Parish Office to

reserve a time. Security will be on the grounds during

the nighttime hours. There will be common prayer at

7 p.m. Friday; 6:30 a.m., 12 Noon and 3:45 p.m.Saturday;

and 7:45 a.m. on Sunday.

I would also like to invite you to the Solemn Closing at 6

o’clock Sunday evening when we will be joined by some

priests and deacons from other parishes. It will consist of

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Evening Prayer, a

sermon by Canon Weaver, Procession of the Blessed

Sacrament and Benediction. Please come for this

beautiful evening.

This Sunday, October 7: National Life Chain Sunday …

only a Prayer Chain can be a Life Chain.

Please join members of the Respect Life Committee who will gather at 1 p.m. at the

intersection of Mayfield & S. Green Roads for a silent Annual Stand for Life. The "Stand"

will occupy all four corners of the Intersection. We wll gather on the Lyceum patio (adjacent

to the church parking lot~NW) at 12:45 p.m. for prayer, instruction & distribution of signs.

We will stand for one hour, rain or shine, in testimony to our belief in the sacredness of all

human life, especially the life of the unborn. We will give silent witness to our belief that

abortion is killing and that it cannot be accepted for any reason. (Bring your own chair if you

cannot stand for the hour.)

CORPUS CHRISTI ACADEMY :

Marketing Guru Needed! Corpus Christi Academy is looking for a volunteer to join

the marketing team for Corpus Christi Academy. We

currently have a group of individuals from the school and

community helping us. As we enter the admissions

season, we are looking for additional volunteers with a

background in marketing. What a wonderful way to use

your talents for your community.

NOW OPEN: CYO Basketball Registration Register your athlete on either the Sacred Heart of Jesus or

St. Clare website under Athletics, then Registration.

Basketball is offered for Boys and Girls in Grades 3-

8, fee is $100. Please register your athlete asap, as the

Boosters will need to contact other schools if there are not

enough players to form a team.

If you are considering coaching or assisting for a

basketball team this year, you are required to attend a

CYO Coaches Development Program. Contact Laura

the next training date and location. (Turn in your receipt to

the Boosters for reimbursement.)

Join the Booster Club! Consider joining the Booster Club! The Boosters are

looking for people who are interested in continuing the

winning Eagle sports tradition. This is the last year for the

Athletic Director and Booster President, and we are

looking for a few people to shadow them this year. Both

positions can be shared by two or three people. The

Coordinator of Physical Forms position also needs to be

filled.

University Hospitals—Cleveland Medical Center

University Circle

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are asked

to please consider volunteering to bring Communion to

the sick at University Hospitals—Cleveland Medical

Center in University Circle. This is a great opportunity

to practice the corporal work of mercy that Jesus asked

for of visiting the sick.

Volunteers are needed each day of the week, and on the

weekends, to distribute Holy Communion to patients

and their families in all the Hospitals on our main

campus.

Baylon Church, 5384 Wilson Mills Road, Highland

Heights.

How can you or anyone for that matter, refuse our

Blessed Mother when she cries out for her children to

join together in prayer? So, park your automobile in the

rear parking lot of the church, get a name tag and follow

the crowd to the prayer point of the gathering. Following

the program pizza, fruit juice and coffee will be provided

to the guests.

The Respect Life Committee

The Respect Life Committee thanks all the volunteers

who helped sell Krispy Kreme Donuts and everyone

who made a purchase of donuts or gave a monetary

donation. The profit from the fundraiser of $623.00

will help fund the Respect Life Essay Contest and the

educational “Choose Life Program” that will be taught

to Academy students in Grades 6-8 teachers from

LifeWorks Ohio.
