OCTOBER 9, 2016 PAGE 3

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

At the writing of this letter, Fr. Winkel and I are at a priest

convocation. Traditionally, the following prayer has been

recited throughout October. I present it to you for your

meditation:

Prayer to St. Joseph

“To thee, O blessed Joseph, do we fly in our tribulations;

and having implored the help of thy most holy spouse, we

confidently crave thy patronage also. Through that charity

which bound thee to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God,

and through the paternal love with which thou didst

embrace the Child Jesus, we humbly beseech thee

graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ

hath purchased by His Blood and with thy power and

strength to aid us in our necessities.

O Most watchful guardian of the Divine family, defend the

chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving Father,

ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting

influence; O our most mighty protector, be propitious to us,

and from heaven assist us in this our struggle with the

power of darkness; and as once thou didst rescue the Child

Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God’s Holy Church

from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity: Shield,

too, each one of us by thy constant protection, so that,

supported by thine example and thine aid, we maly be able

to live piously, to die holily, and to obtain eternal

happiness in heaven. Amen”

Please pray for all those

who were anointed this weekend.

May God’s blessings be yours this week. Father Ireland

GIVING could be the answer.

ago.

Thank you for continuing to support Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

Prayer & Fasting from now until

November 6. Please join our “war” against abortion: arm

yourselves with prayer and fasting; offer your sacrifices to

the Lord.

These quotes are from the recently

canonized St. Teresa of Calcutta. They

are a wonderful meditation on the

Beatitudes given to the Apostles by

Jesus., and to each of us through our membership in His

Church.

Please take time this week to read these several times and

measure your reaction to them resounding in your heart.

“Homelessness is not only not having a home made of

bricks; homelessness is being thrown away by

society...unwanted...just deserted.

“Today, so many are dying just for a little love … for a

little concern and our compassion.”

“And there is hunger not only for a piece of bread, but for

love. People feel unwanted, unloved, uncared for.

Nakedness is not only for a piece of cloth, but for that

human dignity which we have sometimes lost.”

“In this life we cannot do great things, we can only do

small things with great love.”

PRAY FOR PRIESTS

& SEMINARIANS
