are leading a spiritual pilgrimage for all parishioners to the Holy Land (Israel), April 9-18, 2018. This tour visits multiple places relating to Jesus’ life on earth, includes Mass at several signiicant religious sites and much more! Per person rates from Columbus are $4,519.00/Double; $5,369.00/Single; $4,489.00/Triple. Watch for more information here. You may also inquire in the St. Francis de Sales Parish ofice after Sunday morning Mass or contact Gary Dwyer at 614-633-8419 or [email protected].
Conirmation – How Do I Know God is Real? This week, we will take a look at how God can be known by what He has revealed to us in creation using our reason; we will look at divine revelation – God revealing Himself through Scripture, Tradition, and the person of Jesus Christ; and talk about Faith
as our proper response to what God has revealed. Classes run from 12:00-2:00 p.m. each Sunday.
Our Elevate Junior High Youth Ministry program meets 3:00-4:30 p.m. on Sundays before the 5:00 p.m. Mass. This week, we will be looking at the life of our Lord here on earth. Come meet new friends, have a good time, and deepen your understanding of our faith.
Summit High School Youth Ministry – Join us and forge bonds of friendship as we grow closer to the Lord. Last week, we looked at True Friendship. This week, we will answer our Lord’s offer to Follow Him. Jesus invites us to follow Him, to become His disciples. But what if we say no? This week, presents the story of a woman who walked away from Christ and found everything that the world had to offer. Did it make her happy and fulilled? That’s what we’ll ind out. All are welcome to join us! Summit meets each Sunday after the 5:00 p.m. Mass for faith-building, music, games, and food.
Upcoming Event: Martyr Mayhem November 5th, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saints of the Church live lives of heroic virtue; some Saints are great mystics who revealed to us a deep understanding of the Lord. Some Saints founded orders that exist hundreds of years later. Some Saints were called by God to not only live for Him, but to die for Him as well. Martyr Mayhem is a (comical) look at the lives of some of these great Saints. Join us for dinner, games, and a live-action look at the Saints who came before us.
See Ed Watson for more details.

Priesthood Sunday, October 29, is a special day set aside to honor the priesthood in the United States. It was established in 2003, to promote a way for Catholic communities to express appreciation for the priests who serve them, even when media attention is often negative. Such a celebration is relevant considering the declining
number of priests in the U.S. Only about 4,000 of the 19,000 parishes in this country currently have more than one priest. Many priests serve two or more parishes by themselves. The Knox/Licking Vocations Club thank our parish priests and the subs for their service and dedication. May they be blessed with good health and the zeal to preach the Gospel. Please be sure to personally thank them for all that they do for us!
Quarterly Anointing of the Sick Services – Something new here at St. Francis. Fr. Dave will offer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick following all the Masses next weekend, October
28th and 29th, then quarterly throughout the year. Anointing of the Sick will be done during the
recessional (closing) song at the end of Mass. Catholics who want to receive it should form two lines up the center aisle, after the altar servers process out of the church. Persons might need this beautiful sacrament of healing: those who are suffering with a terminal disease, chronic illness, emotional or mental struggles, spiritual troubles, the frailties of age, or before you go into surgery in the hospital. Come and receive this gift of Christ for strength, comfort, hope and healing.

Here are a few thoughts for all of us to ponder. We tend to eat out often and this question applies whether we are eating in a restaurant like Bob Evans or sitting down for a burger in a fast food restaurant. What happened to the practice of saying Grace before we eat? The argument about not praying in a public place is baloney…excuse the pun! Do we or don’t we pray…IF NOT, WHY NOT? Here is another thought. As you go about your life and ind yourself in the home of someone who you know is Catholic, look around. Do you see a Cruciix hanging on the wall? IF NOT, WHY NOT? (This probably doesn’t apply in your home, but we are talking in generalities). In many homes today, the contention is that God and religion are a private matter and should not be on “display.” How very sad…what a lame excuse. Now, for the inal question... On a regular basis, we are faced with situations relating to character and morals in matters happening right before our eyes…oftentimes, in our own families. Do you speak up about what is right and what is horribly wrong? IF NOT, WHY NOT? These subtle situations are the devil’s workshop. We have a duty to speak up. God is counting on it.
Remember, you and your family are always invited to take part in our weekly Rosary for Peace, every Saturday at 4:35 p.m., just before Mass.
The ROSARY …and the question is…IF NOT, WHY NOT?

Bethesda Healing Ministry – Jesus healed not only those with physical illnesses but also those with spiritual needs. One evening a woman of dubious repute, looking for Jesus, entered uninvited, the home of one of the religious leaders.
Kneeling before Jesus, she washed his feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. Jesus accepted her beautiful act of love. While others were shocked by her behavior, Jesus knew the sincerity of her heart and said, “Your sins are forgiven.” (Luke 7:48). That awesome gift awaits each person seeking release
from the shame and guilt of an abortion. Bethesda Healing
Ministry welcomes the opportunity to support you in seeking the Sacrament of forgiveness and healing. Bethesda Healing Ministry conidential phone lines: 614-309-0157 or 614-309-2651 or visit our website at bethesdahealing.org.Be sure to “Like” us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/
