� e Advances in Trauma seminar is sponsored by the American College of Surgeons Commi� ee on Trauma, Region 7 (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska).

� e objective of the meeting is to assemble nationally known faculty to present timely trauma and critical care issues aimed at improving care of the acutely injured patient. Current trauma diagnostic and therapeutic techniques will provide the audience with the most up to date information available.

� is seminar will bene� t trauma surgeons, general surgeons, emergency physicians, trauma coordinators, trauma nurses, critical care nurses, surgical residents, orthopedic surgeons, vascular surgeons and primary care physicians who care for injured patients.

Course DescriptionA course manual is distributed to students prior to taking the course to provide an overview of key surgical exposures in � ve key anatomic areas: neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis, extremities, upper and lower. � e one day cadaver-based course follows this modular, body region approach. Each section begins with a short case-based overview, followed by a hands-on exposure performed by students under the guidance of faculty. � e student to faculty ratio is low, allowing extensive faculty guidance and interaction with students. � e student assesses his or her ability to perform each exposure independently and is evaluated on knowledge, and technical skills.
