    Complete Yamaha USB Driver Troubleshooting for Windows XP

     After any bad MIDI/USB cables and jacks have been ruled out as culprits (byusing ith other devices! on other co"puters! sitching cables! etc#$! the

    folloing steps should be perfor"ed%

    Preliminary Steps

    !" &ith the co"puter turned '! "ake sure that the MIDI instru"ent is alreadyturned ')! plugged into the USB MIDI interface (or cable$! and that the otherend is not plugged into the co"puter USB port yet#

    NOTE: It is also a good idea to unplug any other unneeded USB devices fromthe computer, and then plug them bac in after the USB !I"I driver has beeninstalled#

    Plugging into a Different USB Port

    Because each USB port has its on address! &indos ill so"eti"es notrecogni+e the connection if it is attached to a different USB port than that hichas originally used during the USB Driver installation# 'n the other hand!&indos ill so"eti"es not recogni+e the connection even if it IS attached tothe original USB port! so plugging the cable into a different one and brosing to

    the USB Driver again points &indos in the right direction and solves theproble",

    !" -onnect the .a"aha USB MIDI interface (or cable$ a different USB port onthe co"puter# *he co"puter screen auto"atically displays the &elco"e to theound )e 0ardare &i+ard1 screen#

    NOTE: On some older computers, the USB port may need to be $enabled% in thecomputer BIOS settings# If the $Ne& 'ard&are (i)ard% screen does not appear,contact the computer manufacturer for steps re*uired to enable the USB port inthe BIOS#

    !#" After a fe seconds! the Syste" Settings -hange1 screen is displayed# 4jectany floppy disks! if necessary! and click the %Yes( button to restart theco"puter#

     Deleting 3ultiple 1nstalls of Yamaha USB 31D1 Driver

    &hen initially installing the .a"aha USB MIDI Driver on a co"puter running&indos 5666 or &indos 78! a user "ay have an incorrect setting on theco"puter or connected USB MIDI device9 thinking that the driver as installedincorrectly! they "ay atte"pt to re:install the driver "ultiple ti"es! hich can

    cause further proble"s ith the devices recogni+ing each other# If a co"puter has had devices installed and is no having proble"s! use the folloing steps todelete the duplicate drivers,

    +" &hen the search has finished! find the 3gusb#cpl1 file to the left of-,&I))*syste"51 or -,&indossyste"51! then right:click on it anddelete it! in order to delete the .a"aha MIDI:USB Driver1 icon fro" the-ontrol 8anel screen#

    NOTE: The remaining $+gusb#cpl% files may be deleted if it is desired to removeall remaining amaha soft&are#

     After a .a"aha USB driver has been "anually re"oved fro" Device Manager in&indos! there "ay so"eti"es still be so"e leftover files in the &indos;egistry hich can cause conflicts or other proble"s# Since there is no actual

    uninstall progra" for .a"aha USB drivers! it "ay be necessary to re"ove thesefiles fro" the &indos ;egistry! in order to co"pletely uninstall the driver#
