IT seems to be a lucrative career option offering ofhigh-paying jobs. However, it's an ever-changingjob market. One day a skill is hot and the next it'snot.

Job site Dice.com recently published its 2015Salary Survey, which named the highest-payingtech skills. Of course, skills alone won't always leadto a high salary. Work experience counts, too.

So, here are 30 high-paying tech skills as per thesurvey.

PaaS or "Platform as a Service" is a type of cloudcomputing technology. It hosts everything that adeveloper needs to write an app. These apps oncewritten, would live on PaaS cloud.

PaaS is a huge trend in app development rightnow, with every big tech vendor, every hostingcompany, and every maker of app developmenttools looking for game in the PaaS market.

Cassandra is a free and open source NoSQL database.

It's a kind of database that can handle and store data of different types and sizes of data and it'sincreasingly the go-to database for mobile and cloud applications. Several IT companies includingApple and Netflix use Cassandra.

Pay for Cassandra-associated jobs has climbed 14.5% over last year, Dice says.

    3. No. 3: MapReduce ($127,315)March 25,2015

    4. No. 4: Cloudera ($126,816)March 25,2015

MapReduce has been called "the heart ofHadoop."

MapReduce is the method that allows Hadoop tostore all kinds of data across many low-costcomputer servers. To get meaningful data ofHadoop, a programmer writes software programs(often in the popular language, Java) forMapReduce.

Pay for MapReduce-associated jobs has climbed11% over last year, Dice says. It has over 500 job

    listings for it.

Cloudera is a company that makes a commercialversion of Hadoop.

Although Hadoop is a free and open-source-project for storing large amounts of data oninexpensive computer servers, the free version ofHadoop is not easy to use. Several companieshave created friendlier versions of Hadoop, andCloudera is arguably the most popular one.

Pay for Cloudera-associated jobs has climbed 20%over the last year, Dice says.

    7. No. 7: ABAP ($124,262)March 25,2015

Hbase is yet another project based on the popularHadoop technology.

Hadoop is a way to store all kinds of data acrossmany low-cost computer servers. Once that data isstored using the Hadoop Distributed File System(HDFS), Hbase can sort through that data andgroup bits of data together, somewhat similar tohow a traditional database organizes data.

Pay for Hbase-associated jobs has climbed 20%over last year, Dice says. It has over 660 job

    listings for it.

Pig is another hot skill, thanks to demand fortechnologies like Big Data and Hadoop.

Pig is a programming language that helps extractinformation from Hadoop like find answers tocertain questions or otherwise use the data.

Pay for Pig-associated jobs climbed 13% over thelast year, as per Dice.

Advanced Business Application Programming or ABAP is the software language developed by SAPfor building business applications on top of its business application suite.

Businesses often want to write custom apps that make use of the data stored in SAP. Developersalso write commercial apps for SAP.

Pay for ABAP-associated jobs jumped by 24% over the last year, reveals Dice survey.

DevOps is when the developers buildingapplications ("dev") and IT people deploying them(operations or "ops") work together to use speedytechniques so they can deploy technology as fastas it's released. Chef helps IT professionalsautomate tasks that keep computer serversrunning efficiently.

Dice has over 1200 Chef-associated job listings.

Flume is yet another skill spawned from Big data"craze and the popularity of Hadoop.
