Reduce, reuse and recyclestLAST year, our 1 Annual Waste Management and Recycling Conference was a resounding success with 80%

percent of the delegates articulating that they were satisfied with the overall organisation of the conference, which include the content and the calibre of speakers who presented at the conference.

ndAmong some of the issues raised that delegates felt that should be incorporated in this 2 Annual Waste Management and Recycling Conference were; recycling as an economic tool, new technological changes within the industry that could make waste management and recycling initiatives more adaptable, landfill issues and tyre recycling among others.

Waste management and recycling has become a critical issue globally as calls on proper disposal of waste receive widespread concern. In the South African context, the political, social, environmental, economic and technical factors have created a unique dynamic milieu, in which the challenges are so diverse that problems cannot be solved by merely scaling up existing levels of services.

New approaches are hence required to handle rapid urbanisation, recycling and industrial waste through regionalisation, legislation and control among other measures. Stakeholders in the industry are hoping to see the various pieces of legislation in collaboration with provinces, municipalities and the private sector producing results in light of waste management initiatives.

Recycling forms an integral facet of Integrated Waste Management for the protection of human health, environment and the achievement the goals of the Polokwane declaration.

The economic viability of recycling waste is dependent upon the waste composition and its ability to be separated or segregated into a marketable commodity. Over 50 % of the general waste currently being disposed of in landfills in South Africa has the potential to be recovered for recycling or re-use, specifically paper, glass, beverage cans, metal and tyre

Technologies have been developed aimed at reducing waste destined for landfill and a number of initiatives have been implemented in a quest to achieve the eight goals framework targeted for 2016. These goals include promoting waste minimisation, reuse, recycling and recovery of waste, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of waste and service.

It is against this background that Mogorosi Communications seeks to unravel the current trends and developments in a quest to address the above issues as well as regarding the National Waste Management Strategy (NWMS) framework since its approval for implementation in November last year.

Payments and Cancellations:

Mogorosi Communications reserves the right, due to circumstances beyond our control, to change speakers, program content, date & venueThe signed registration form is a legally binding contract

Full payment is required 1 week prior to the conference by EFT or Direct Deposits. Cancellations are to be submitted and confirmed in writing via e-mail or fax at least 14 working days prior to the event upon which the delegate fee will be refunded less a 10% +Vat service fee.

A 50% cancellation fee is applicable for cancellations received within less than 7 working days prior to the conference. No refunds will be given for delegates who do not show up, or for cancellations within 24 hours of the conference that they booked for. The company/individual is liable for full payment of the conference fee.

Legal action will be taken for the recovery of any outstanding payments. Any legal and related costs will also be for the account of the client. Mogorosi Communications reserves the right to change the venue of cancel the conference should it be deemed necessary.
