Reading Builds Character
2nd Annual Bethany Elementary Read-A-Thon
How it Works 1. Read-‐a-‐thon packets are sent home with students 2. Students ask family and friends to sponsor them during the read-‐a-‐thon 3. Read and record minutes for 2 weeks 4. Collect donations 5. Turn in read-‐a-‐thon packets 6. Earn book fair credits and other prizes!
Important Read-‐a-‐thon Dates
● 9/9 School Assembly/Read-‐A-‐Thon Kick-‐Off for Kids! ● 9/12 Read-‐a-‐thon packets go home. Students can begin asking family and friends to sponsor them.
Sponsors may choose to donate per minutes read or a flat rate. No amount is too small! Keep recruiting sponsors throughout the duration of the read-‐a-‐thon.
● 9/19 -‐ 9/30 READ! READ! READ! Record all minutes read on Reading Log. Only reading during this time period counts toward read-‐a-‐thon.
