PLEAT METHOD
Transfer next 3 sts to one dpn and the next 3 sts to another dpn. Place
second dpn on top of first dpn so last st of second dpn is above first st
of first dpn, Place LHN on top of both dpn’s, so first st from LHN is
on top of last st on second dpn (you have created a large "Z" ). With
RHN, k1 through the first st on all 3 needles on left hand, continue in
this manner until all sts on dpn’s have been worked.
SEED STITCH
Row 1: K1, p1 across.
Row 2: P1, k1 across.
Rep these two rows for pattern.
BACK
With larger needles, CO 148 (156, 164, 172, 180) sts and work in St st
for 4", ending with a WS row.
Body Shaping Dec Row (RS): K1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, ssk, k1.
Rep this dec row every 12 rows 8 times more – 130 (138, 146, 154,
162) sts.
Work even until piece measures 20" from cast-on edge, ending with
WS row.
PLEAT ROW (RS): K1, * k8 (9, 10, 11, 12), make pleat on next 9 sts
(3/3/ 3) using pleat method; rep from * 6 times more, ending with k10
(11, 12, 13, 14) – 88 (96, 104, 112, 120) sts.
Work even for 8 rows.
Inc 1 st both sides every 6 rows twice – 92 (100, 108, 116, 124) sts.
Work even until piece measures 23" from cast-on edge.
Armhole Shaping
BO 5 sts at the beg of next two rows.

Back Neck and Shoulder Shaping
BO center 32 (36, 36, 40, 40) sts and work both sides at the same time
using separate balls of yarn – 19 (21, 24, 26, 29) sts each side.
On neck side bind off 3 sts once.
From armhole side bind off 6 (6, 7, 7, 8) sts once, 5 (6, 7, 8, 9) sts
twice every other row.
RIGHT FRONT
With larger needles, CO 54 (58, 62, 66, 70) sts and work in St st for
4", ending with a WS row.
Body Shaping Work side shaping same as back – 45 (49, 53, 57, 61) sts. Work even
until piece measures 20" from beg, ending with a WS row.
PLEAT ROW (RS): K2 (2, 3, 3, 4), * k8 (9, 10, 11, 12), make pleat
on next 9 sts (3/3/3) using pleat method; rep from * once more, ending
with k9 (11, 12, 14, 15) – 33 (37, 41, 45, 49) sts.
Work inc shaping and armhole shaping same as back.
At the same time when piece measures 21" from beg, start neck
shaping.
Front Neck Shaping
From neck side dec 1 st every 6 rows 8 (10, 10, 12, 12) times – 16 (18,
21, 23, 26) sts. Work even until measures same as back.
Work shoulder shaping same as back.
LEFT FRONT
Work LEFT FRONT same as RIGHT FRONT, reversing shaping.
SLEEVE
With larger needles, CO 48 (52, 56, 60, 64) sts and work in St st for
1.5”, ending with WS row.
Sleeve Shaping
Inc 1 st both sides – 50 (54, 58, 62, 66) sts.
Inc 1 st both sides every 10 rows 3 times, then inc 1 st both sides every
6 rows 10 times – 76 (80, 84, 88, 92) sts.
Work even until sleeve measures 19 (19, 19½, 19½, 20)" from beg.
Cap Shaping
BO 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows.
Dec 1 st both sides every other row 6 (6, 7, 7, 8) times – 54 (58, 60,
64, 66) sts.
Dec 1 st both sides every row 6 times – 42 (46, 48, 52, 54) sts.

Sew shoulder seams. Inset sleeves and sew side and sleeve seams.
Weave in loose ends.
FRONT BAND
With circular needles, evenly pick up and knit 262 (270, 274, 282,
286) sts up right front, around back neck and down left front. Work in
Seed st for 3½". BO all sts.
