She took home the Tibor Horvath Award of Excellence, the Wedding Portrait class award and the Judge’s Choice award. Additionally , four of her images are exhibited at the Provincial Image Salon. Pictured, is an example of her award winning wed- ding photography. The photographer was educated at the Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD). David Nash, the president of The Oakville Players theatre group, has started a program called Streetwise Actors Inc. Streetwise Actors will bring together youths, aged 14-18, and teach them acting skills, stage management and production, at no fee to the par - ticipants. Nash said the term “underprivilegedincludes a wide definition. Nash said it's more than just about teaching youths theatre and drama. “It gives them self-esteem, it gives them self- reliance, it gives them a disciplined environment in which to work, it gives them a place where they can self-discipline, work as a team and they can get quality feedback, for some of them, for the first time in their lives. They’re guaranteed to be able to perform,” he said. Nash, who has directed numerous plays in Oakville, has worked with a number of youths, both as actors and backstage on his productions. As an example he mentioned just one of the many young people he’s worked with over the years, a shy young girl. “She was very shy, she would hardly look at anybody,” he said. “I put her in a tiny little role. She just had to walk on stage and sit and pretend to talk to somebody and then come off. That’s all she had to do. It sparked her interest in theatre.
