Malfunction


Fault code

FMI 3 Short circuit to voltage (low voltage side).Also sets PPID97 FMI14.

Conditions for fault code:

• Short circuit to voltage (low voltage side).

Possible cause:

• Short circuit to battery voltage in the component orwiring.

Reaction from engine control unit:

• Fault code is set.• Yellow lamp requested.

Noticeable external symptoms:

• Yellow lamp lights.• The over-pressure valve is open.• Power reduction.

Appropriate action:


FMI 4 Short circuit to ground (high voltage side).Also sets PPID97 FMI14.


• Short circuit to ground (high voltage side).

Possible cause:

• Short circuit to ground in the component or wiring.





Appropriate action:


FMI 5 Open circuit or short circuit to voltage (high voltage side).

Also sets PPID97 FMI14.


• Open circuit or short circuit to voltage (high voltageside).

Possible cause:

• Open circuit or short circuit to voltage (high voltageside) in the component or wiring.





Appropriate action:


FMI 6 Short circuit to ground.


• Short circuit to ground in the component or wiring.

NOTE!

• Active/inactive fault codeCertain fault codes become inactive when the engine isshut off. Start the engine to see if the fault code is stillinactive or becomes active when the engine is running.

• Connector blockAlways check that there is no oxidisation and that thepins in the connector are not damaged. Also check thegrip of the pins. For more information, refer to Function

Group 3710, Information type Diagnostics, 37102-3Electric wires and connections, check.If the connector is free from faults, reconnect it.Check if the fault code is still active. If the fault codeis still active, continue fault tracing according tothe instructions.

• After any corrective actions on the connector blockRefit the connector. Check if the fault code hasbecome inactive.If the fault code is still active, continue fault tracingaccording to the instructions.

MeasurementsNote: If any of the following cable measurement valuesare faulty, they may have caused the component to bedamaged. Check also if any of the component’s valuesare faulty.
